I'm not sure if this is the right forum,
but i'm having trouble getting consistent
information. I'm trying to find out if it
is normal to be able to feel your pulse in
the area between your clavicles, just
above your breastbone (i believe the
technical term is jugular or suprascapular
notch). The reason I ask is because I can
feel mine, and so can a few people I spoke
to...But I have read and heard that
feeling this pulsation is a sign of
possible aortic deficiency. Any thoughts?
Thanks so much.

Yes this is normal. There is an artery
that runs directly underneath each
collarbone. Sometimes when people break
these bones they can slice that artery and
thats a pretty bad situation. These
arteries however run and meet up with the
main arteries that go to your heart. You
also have jugulars that run up and down
your neck. Arteries, being the biggest
vessles in your body, produce a lot of
pressure, therefore you will be able to
feel it in the area you are talking about.
Your pulse is everywhere. No need to
worry, you are jsut fine. I can actually
see my pulse in my eyes if I relax them
and dont focus on anything, isnt that
weird! You are fine, unless you
experience other problems, I wouldnt worry
about it at all.
