How exciting! :)

for the hospital you should pack light. But just the essentials:

you:

night gown (2, just incase the other gets soiled)
robe (hospitals are cold)
slippers/socks
hair tie
good brush
tooth brush/soap (hospital paste/soap is gross)
outfit to go home / for visitors (with elastic waist!)

baby:

2 onesies
2 outfits
2 baby blankets
1 cap
2pr socks/booties
car seat (you can't leave hospital without one, and if you forget they won't let you have one)

also:

camera
address book if you're going to call anyone

otherwise depending on when you're going home, you should be fine :)

You dont need anything for the baby, the hospital will give you plenty.

Take a little make up for photos
slippers
hair clip to hold your hair back
pads, the hospital will probably give you plenty, you cant wear tampons.

Uhmmm..Take some hard candy to keep your mouth from getting dry.

Etc etc blah blah

you get it

and how many babies was it that you had again?

When you leave the hospital do you think that they give you some sort of gift basket of carter's and osh kosh? You get hospital pads, sitz bath, gauze, and tote socks. There is nothing given to you for the baby. Sure if you want to put your baby in a cheap thin little t-shirt with suchnsuch hospital stamped on the front of it. And a crappy hospital diaper. And what about a car seat? Is she supposed to argue with the hospital staff when she tries to leave with out one? That's a state law dear.

And if you take a "little make up" for photos. (even though you most likely will be so tired, you won't want to put on makeup) what is she supposed to wear in bed? The jeans she came in? What about a night gown to sleep in? A robe? Hospitals have a temp they maintain at below 60 deg to keep from germs spreading. So she's supposed to just throw on the jacket she came in also? And does she want to go home in the same outfit she came in as well?

Yea dacia, you're right...No one needs to bring anything. Just a tube of concealer and a hair brush. That's why smart couples have a hospital bag pre-packed and ready.

 I can't wait until you have your first baby...You swear to god that you know everything, over there with a 25 week old fetus for experience.

Lol... June

with all that has been said above I would say to also bring magazines (sometimes labour can be boring and long)
i think its really important to bring a video camera. Borrow one if you dont have one but I think that your child would appreciate having it in the future. I mean I know that your probably never going to watch it really but it's so nice to have. I think that its a good investment for when your baby growing up too.

Also I think bring a good pillow from home.
Good luck girl!!

Here's what you should bring: from ivillage

1. A nightgown, if desired -- some women prefer to wear the hospital gown. If you do bring your own, and are nursing, wear one that opens easily.

2. Socks or slippers

3. An extra pillow or two and a favorite blanket. Hospital bedding can be scarce.

4. Your favorite personal care items -- flavored lip gloss, makeup, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, hairbrush, deodorant and body lotion. Be prepared for the photo opportunities.

5. A focal point -- perhaps a photograph that comforts you.

6. Snacks -- your labor partner may not get an opportunity to leave the room. Many hospitals will feed you, but not your partner. And don't forget some healthy snacks for you (in case the food is as bad as everyone warned).

7. Cd player and your favorite cds

8. Mindless reading material and/or a deck of cards -- just in case you are in for a long wait.

9.Camera -- with several rolls of indoor film if you're not using a digital camera. You may also want to bring a video camera with an extra battery pack.

10. Health insurance card and photo id

11. An extra set of clothes that are loose-fitting. Most women leave the hospital looking (temporarily) like they are about four months pregnant.

12. Undies.

13. Nursing bras and nursing pads, if you are breastfeeding.

14. One newborn outfit for your baby. If it's cold, bring your own receiving blanket. Diapers will be provided.

15. Baby car seat -- your baby will not be released without one. Read the manual before leaving for the hospital.

16. The phone number of your pediatrician and a lactation consultant.

17.Spare change for hospital vending machines.

18. An extra duffel bag to bring home gifts from visitors, or free hospital items.
Hope these help you out!

Wow that's a cool list. I like #6/#17 that's true!

Where me and dh were when we had our son was on top of a really large hill in a sort of medical 'community' there weren't any places to grab food within walking distance. And he was scared to leave just incase he missed something ;x

My hospital gave me a list of stuff to bring including a full pack of diapers, pads for me, my pillow, clothes, baby stuff, etc.... I ended up being there longer though and having my bf go home and have to get stuff for me and our son. Find out from your doc or the nurse at your next appt what you should bring. Soem hosp's suppply stuff and some don't and like someone else said you don't want too much as it's pain to leave with a lot of stuff. Plus you'll prob have more thna when you came in cause of gifts and the baby of course-lol

I dont like to be judged & dont like to be told what the hospital in my state does give and doesn't when I know from experience & she doesn't.

Like i've mentioned in a previous post, people who judge other people and what happens in their state are retarded.
