My son is 11 1/2 months old and he has a cough and very congested. I was sick for over a week and after I got better I heard him getting a cough. He's having allot of trouble sleeping because he's not able to breath really well though his nose and he keeps coughing. I keep the humidifier on in his room all night and i've been giving him a mixture of cornsyrup and lemon to break up some of the congestion, thats what I was told by a nurse. But it does not seem to be helping much.
If you have any suggestions to help my baby feel better and get a good nights sleep I would really appreciate it. Thank you!!!

Take him to his doctor. He/she will give your son some cold medicine.

Tylonal (sp) works, and motren but you have to give hem half of the normal dose. And try running a hot shower and taking him in there and standing there with him for a bit ( not in the hot shower but in the room and close the door ) and its like the humidfier but a heaver dossage!

Give them nothing but ibuprofen. I developed bronchitis as a kid due to all the cold medicines my mother pumped into me. Many people are of the understanding that the best intervention is to let the body do what it needs. Many homeopathic doctors warn against decongestants as well as antihistamines now. The body has to learn to deal with viruses and bacteria, the dna gains memory every time it encounters a new strain of virus (colds). When you intervene, the dna is unable to accumulate wisdom on how it dealt with the virus and unable to evolve the idea to the next strain which comes along.

I gave my kids chamomile tea in their bottles which soothes and relaxes. Works good for labor also. Keep their heads elevated on a pillow and put on soothing music. Their immune system will figure out what to do if the body is able to rest as much as possible.

Humidifiers are no longer the norm (warm moist air encourages the growth of bacteria in the lungs when they are congested) that's what caused my childhood bronchitis.
