a Little Encouragement For All Who Are Close.... Posted: 10-04-05 18:09pm
Congrats to all of you who are about to
have your babies. I wanted to tell you
all my story of labor and delivery with my
son. Maybe it'll but some of you at ease
who are nervous.
My due date was on july 23rd. I
had a prenatal checkup on the 19th of
july. I had more appontments then the
average pregnant women because my blood
pressure was high for most of my
pregnancy. At my doctors appointment that
morning I had been feeling very light
headed and dizzy. The nurse took my bllod
pressure and had a shocked look on her
face when she read what it was. She left
the room wthout speaking to me. The
doctor called me into her office
immediatly. She told me that my blood
pressure had sky rockted and that I needed
to go straight to the hospital. So, my
husband and I went home, grabbed the bag I
had packed months before, and we were off
to the hospital. When we arrived a nurse
directed us to a room and hooked me up to
a machine that monitered my blood
pressure. The nurse informed us that it
looked like I was going to be getting
induced that night!!! Like most of you I
was more then ready to have the baby!!! I
was tired of being pregnant. After the
nurse left the room, the intense fear came
over me...I was scared to death...I was
going to have my baby very soon, and all
of the sudden, I wasn't ready like I
thought I was. I began I cry and there
was nothing my husband could do to console
me. A couple of hours later the doctor
came in and gave me a choice. He said
that he could go ahead and induce me that
night or I could go home and come back the
following sunday to be induced (this was
on a tuesday by the way). My husband and
I discussed it and since we were both very
worried about my blood pressure we decided
to go ahead with the induction. I can't
remember what time it was that they
induced me but it was that night. I
started to have bad contractions after a
few hours and was begging for the
epidural. The contraction felt like bad
period cramps times 50!! Looking back, it
wasn't so bad though. Everything was
great once I got the epidural except for
the fact that my legs were some numb that
I could even move them the slightest bit.
The epidural hurt worse then I expected
but I don't know what I would have done
without it. Early the next morning the
nurse came in and told me that if my water
had not broke within the hour that they
were going to break it for me. Not even
five minutes after the nurse left the
room...It broke. I had a cathider in so I
thought that maybe it had came out and I
was ust peeing on myself. I told my
husband who was sleeping that I thought my
water broke. It was so funny, he jusmbed
up so fst and ran over to the bed and
tried to look under the covers to see if
it had. I started yelling at him to go
get the nurse. She came in a checked me
and sure enough my water had broken.
After that my labor preceeded very
quickly. I went from being 3 cenimeteres
to 9 in one hour!! I felt sooooo much
pressure and kept telling the nurse that
the baby was coming and that I needed push
and she keep telling me that I wasn't
dialated far enough. I asked her to check
me again and when she did I was ready.
They but my legs on those things and the
doctor came in. He told me to start
pushing and I did, as hard as I could.
There was pain but more pressure then
pain. It really felt like he was coming
out of my butt instead of my vagina!!!
Lol!!! You have to push like you are
trying to use the bathroom. I was afriad
I wasn't going to know how to push...But
do't worry...You do. After pushing as
hard and as long as I could at one time he
was finally born. I had only pushed for
15 minutes and my active labor was only 5
and a half hours. Everything went very
smooth. I even watched him being born in
a big mirror!! It was an awesome
experince and I encourage all of you to
watch your children being born...If your
tummy can handle it!! The only problem we
had was that I pushed him out so fast that
he had a hard time catching his breath.
He was in special care for about an hour
but was healthy other then his breathing.
He weighed 7lbs and 10oz, 21 and a half
inches long. It wasn't a bad experince at
all. You wont believe me when I say this
but you'll miss being pregnant and feeling
your baby kick inside of you after a
couple of weeks.
Good luck to you all and I hope
that made you feel a littel better about
giving birth!!!
Labor dust to all who are full term!!!

Well yours seemed to have gone a lil
smoother than mine but it was worth all
the sh*t to have my son.
I'll make it a lil shorter than it was
but.... On monday june 20th I had been
having cramps all day, I even posted on my
other forum that I was feeling crampy.
Anyway I went and did groceries and stuff
and came home had dinner and sat down to
watch tv. We had bought a new computer
cause my other one sucked so I decided
around 11pm to connect it, my bf was
helping and as I bent down to plug in the
comp, I heard a pop and felt a gush of
liquid run down my leg, my bf looked at me
and said "did u get shocked????" lol, I
said "no I think my water just broke" so I
go sit on the toilet and my mucous plug
and evrything came out. I called the hosp
and they said to come in. My bf started
calling people and I was like can you call
the damn taxi!!!!! Lol so we get to the
hosp around 11:30pm and they check me and
I was only 2 cm dilated but the baby was
still high so they said "you have to have
a catheter put in and stay in bed" around
4 am I was only about 3cm dilated and they
couldn't figure out why it was going so
slow but they gave me the epi (it was
heaven!) I spent all day on the 21st just
hoping the baby would come soon. People
kept stopping by but I only wanted my bf
there so I was like can you get these
f-ing people outta here! The nurses told
them they couldn't stay!! (yay for my
nurses!) finally at 5 pm being only 5cm
the new doc on rounds did and internal
exam and said "well gee, you have another
sac that needs to be broken"and popped my
2nd sac (the disappearing twin syndrome
thing they said) anyway after he did that
I dilated fully by 6pm, then the sh*t
started.....A new nurse on training broke
my epi machine and they couldn't get the
anestesioligist (sp) to come cause he was
in surgery, well damn I was in pain and I
was told I couldn't push yet cause the
baby was looking out. When the doc did
another internal at 6 pm he touched the
baby's face instead of top of the head. I
kept saying I have to push and they said
"no you'll snap the babie's neck" they
kept waiting to see if he would put his
head down. So there I am fully dilated,
no epi and not allowed to push. I was
crying and my poor bf was just like what
can I do??? They gave me some other pain
medication and I said it's not working and
they gave me some more and then I barfed.
By 10pm the doc came in and said "what do
u want to do?" and I said "if you don't
get this damn kid outta me now I will cut
my own stomach open and pull him out!!!"
they froze my from the neck down, wheeled
me in for surgery and at 10:30pm my son
trey was born 8lbs, 6oz and perfect!!. I
was upset from having to have a c-sec but
so happy to see my son. It's so hard when
u have a c-sec though cause they take the
baby to be weighed and you have to strain
to see oyur baby. They finally gave him
to my bf and he brought him over so I
could kiss him. I was just crying and
crying. The doc took his time sewing me
up, my scar is nice and barely noticeable.
We called the grandparents and by 9am the
next day I was up and walking. They kept
telling me not to but I just wanted to pee
on my own so badly-lol. The nurses were
in shock cause I had no probs getting up
and around (well I needed help standing at
first) I was home 4 days after my son was
born (his due date!)
