Q: Lump In Stomach Area

I have an appt with a general surgeon in 1 week for a "bump" on my stomach. I first noticed it because it looked like a vein popping out of the side of my abdominal area. When I touched it, it appears to be a lump of some kind. Went to my doctor, she is sending me to a surgeon 'cause she doesn' t know what it is.
I have had it (with no changes) for about 6 or 7 months----every so often it pains me, just to remind me that it is there........I am pretty concerned....Any ideas what this may be?
Thanks,
