Pretty much only paracetemol if you have aches an pains. If you are all stuffed up, you can use one of those nasal inhalers- I don't know if avaialable in canada- vicks make them, they are not a spray, it's just vicks vapor rub in a lipstick shaped tube, and you smell it- it clears your nose. Failing that, just buy the actual rub, and put some on a hanky to sniff.
Eucalyptus oil on a hanky will do the same. There should be some safe lozenges for sore throats too- if you can't find any, my mum used to give us a spoonfull of honey for a sore throat when we were kids, it seemed to help- shortlived though!!! For earache she'd put warm olive oil on some cotton wool and put it in our ears- the heat would give some relief.
Just drink plnty of fluids, and get lots of rest.

Just so you know, paracetamol is acetaminophen (tylenol) in canada. You could use a saline nasal spray to help with your stuffy nose...It's just salt water and is fine to use. Lozenges are fine for your throat. If the stuffy nose doesn't get relief with the saline spray, call ob/gyn in morning and ask them what you can take over the counter. Hope this helps.

The list of safe over the counter medications that I got from the health department says for colds you can take chlor-trimeton, sudafed, actifed, or benadryl.

I had a really bad cold in my 3rd tri, I got some salinex (nose stuff) and some benadryl dm cough syrup. That was the only thing the doc and pharmacist told me I could take. Go to your pharmacy adn the pharmacist will help you out.

Teach, it's 2 posts now where i've seen you post things that are on your safe list that were no no's for me and my friends up here. I don't know if they give dif advice in the states or what. Hmmmmm. :)

I am not sure why there is such a difference between what you can and cannot take for canada and the us. What is mentioned is what was on the list that the health department gave me. It was also the same list that my doctor was going to give me, but I already had the copy from the health department.

ya it's weird, I have oher friends from the states and they were told to take certain things too that my friends and I up here were told not to. Maybe there's diff meds in the stuff, like your fda approves certaint things while ours doesn't. Who knows. As long as we have healthy kids!!! :d

Hi there! Please be very careful what you use to take while being pregnant, some of this stuff is used to make meth out of, as the person posted above always check with your dr or pharmacist on any new chemical you are putting into your system and know what your allergies are, the main thing is is to drink lots of fluids! Good luck to you, hope you feel better soon!
