shortness of breath and fatigue with dizziness
Posted: 09-29-05 18:24pm

I'm 16, and i've been to two doctors this week. The first one I guess thought I had some sort of asthma or something, he put me on clarithromicyn or something like that and ventilin (puffer) for 5 days, which did not work worth crap. Then told me to go and see my family doctor before the week was over. So I went to see him today, and he said there is nothing wrong with me. - I think he's an fool - at least I don't think this is normal.

I'm just wondering if anyone knows what these symptoms might mean:

i'm short of breath alot. You know when you take in that deep breath and all that air feels good? Well I can't do that, and when I do it's a really quick deep breath that comes out of nowhere - then i'm back to being short of breath again. I also have some really bad heart pains - very short - seems like an eternity but in logical guessing...Between 10 and 30 seconds, but it's so bad that I have to hold my breath and not move at all until it subsides or it sends out a really really really painful jolt. Also, i'm constantly fatigued, even if I get a good sleep...And have these episodes of I guess "dizziness." it's where everything just goes completely blurry like everything is just moving around to random places really fast, then my head starts painfully pounding, and it seems that my ears get more sensitive to the sounds around me, like everything sounds more clear and is echoing. Sometimes I just need to close my eyes for a couple seconds, other times it's so bad that I end up on the floor with a pounding headache before I even realise what happened.

These all seem to be out of nowhere, they don't have any pattern to them, just happen randomly.

Does anyone know what it would be? Or if I should go to another doctor....?

If I had symptoms like yours I would go to the er. They could be heart related. Sounds like you need a cardiac work up to see if anything is wrong with your heart. Don't mean to scare you but chest pain and shortness of breath with fatigue could be serious.

I am 21 years old and I have been having some kind of fleeting chest pain ( pain that would only last for a couple of seconds, then stop, and then start again over and over for about 10, as if it is with each heart beat). They happen at almost any time but seem to happen more often at night. As well I have been getting the feeling of not getting enough air which can also happen at any time. The chest pain and the feeling of not getting enough air do not happen at the same time. On top of that, I feel pressure in my chest from time to time and a strange feeling in my neck/throat.

I have had my blood pressure checked, listened to with a stethascope several times, a couple of electrocardograms, and and exercise stress test. The doctors I have seen believe that the problem is not my heart but are unable to tell me what they think it is. Needless to say it is extremly frustrating and I have been living with this for about 5 months. If you go see the doctor again, please let me know what happens.

I've had similar symptoms, shortness of breath and fatigue (but instead of chest pains i've had tachycardia) for almost a year. Doctors have ruled out everything serious and it has recently been discovered that I have several hormone problems which could be related. What set this off is unknown, however it's suspected that I have some kind of metal poisoning and i'm going to get that checked out as soon as i'm off my medication.

Metal poisoning can be related to many illnesses. Because your body can't get rid of the metals, it stresses out your adrenals and hormones making everything out of balance. It may not be what you have, but if everything else fails you might as well get checked for it.

Also, you can try seeing a naturalpath. Usually they can do a bunch of tests to find out exactly whats wrong with you. Hope your feeling better soon.
