Dear sir,
i hope you are in the best of ur health. The problem you are referring to is called the pilonidal sinus. In my practice, I have come across a number of patients with similar complaint. It generally occurs in ppl who have to do office work... Being confined to chair.. But this is not a hard and fast rule. The cause is an implantation of a fallen hair from back in the intergluteal crease area leading to formation of an opening like presentation.. The sinus. The hazards include repeated infection of the sinus, which can sometime become extremely painful. I recommend that you visit a good surgeon (preferably a plastic surgeon) in your area who may chart out the extent of sinus by putting dye in it and taking some x-rays called sinugram. It is effeciently treated then by reshaping it and putting a skin flap on it, so need to be worried about the treatment. I hope this reply will help you solve your problem...
Regards,
doctor
