I have been on the depo shot for 2 years and have never bled. I bled last week and am not sure why. I have always had my shot on time. I had sex the day before I bled and didnt think that had anything to do with it but when I had sex the next time I began bleeding again. I bleed for that day. I am a littl econfused as to why. Anyone know what this could be? Is it because of the shot or what?

Me Too!!!!!
I'm not alone anymore! I've been on the shot for 6 yrs. Just recently i've been bleeding, and I thought it was all in my head. It happens most often after sex, but only if I have an orgasm? It is making it hard to enjoy sex Crying or Very sad i'm going to talk to my doctor in march, my anual is due, I hope she can tell me somthing. It makes me feel better to know i'm not alone.

Something to Consider
Taking the depo , which I found out after 2 years. Is that it does weaken the uterine lining and can often cause tears or bleeding after intercourse. Not to metion you can have spotting and occaisional "mini periods" during the course of your depo stint. I will also mention, something you may already know but a lot do not, prolonged use of the depo shot can really really mess you up!!! (most doctors suggest going off for a year every 2 years being on the shot, to keep your chances of getting pregnant eventually when you are ready) I after 4 years on the shot non stop ended up having no sex drive, prolonged periods of depression and I was advised to go off of it immediately. It took almost a year to have an actual period after that and the first one was horrible I have never had a period like that, and although I went back to normal, (as far as the periods go) I am still being treated for depression as a result of the high progestrone amounts in my body (kinda like having post partum depression on and off because my body "assumed it was pregnant" for so long) which is essentially why you dont' get a period while you are on this form of birth controll. (something to keep in mind I know I will never go back on it again. )

I only had one depo shot because 2 1/2 weeks into it I started to bleed. That lasted 2 weeks and stopped. But for some reason (probably as hali said) when I had sex a week later it started right back up and just never stopped. Hense why I only got one. Laughing

one of the reasons I got off it, besides bleeding all the time, which got worse after sex, was I didn't trust what that level of hormones would do to my body with no break. I'm only 16 and even though I don't want any children you just don't want to screw up your chances if you suddenly decide some day you do. I've heard of a lot of health troubles with the shot so I guess I advise you to be careful about being on it a long time.

I only noticed blood once and that was after "cleaning up" and never had that prob again. I have been on it for a year and plan on being on it for a while but I don't want to go off because it has been my lifesaver for this year I have been on it!!
