Hi lorie-

i've been having the same problem for the last month or so. I went to the doctor today and was told that it was probably just a caffeine-induced irregularity. I believe that other substances can also cause sudden palpitations, including cold medicines. Sometimes, however, they can be caused by something more serious. You should see your doctor, if nothing else than for your own peace of mind.

Palpitations
I just read an article that cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women. I happened to read this article while contemplating seeing a doctor because of my racing heart. I have mvp and have had numerous ekgs - all with healthy diagnoses. Yet, everything I read says to see a doctor immediately if I experience palpitations. I'm especially concerned because the article indicates that doctors do not treat heart disease symptoms in women as seriously as they do in men, and often chalk them up to "too much caffeine".

I do not want to be an alarmist. I also don't want to be in denial. Are there any women who have expereinced these symptoms with mvp, and been taken seriously? If so, what was the outcome?

Thanks for your reply.

Palpatations
Question pmj - I am new to this so I don't even know if I did this reply correctly. I too have mvp and palpatations, I am 36 and just found out recently. I was told that my mvp has nothing to do with the palpatations. My problem is that I can't find a med. That works properly yet to keep them at bay. I have also had dull pains in my chest that come and go, numbness/tingling in my hand and was told that they are not related to my heart. I think otherwise and am getting worried that, as a woman, I am not getting the best treatment/consideration.

Could be anxiety, colud be tyroid problems, coluld be low blood pressure..

I'm not a doctor, but palpitations alone are not usually sign of heart condition
