About This Cutting Business...
Posted: 09-26-05 16:00pm

Well, I have heard from my cousins that the doctors cut "down there" (i don't know the medical term) when they were about to give birth.... And then they had to stitch them back up

i don't know if they do this everywhere, but apparently they recommend to do this in canada where my cousins gave birth.

Has anyone had this done to them? And if so exactly where do they cut??

Can anyone help me out here?!?!? I am so scared when it comes to this!

Yikes!

Ok what it is... When your baby crowns (head is just showing) they cut you alittle its nothing big.. Its just so you don't rip. Anyway they cut you because the babys head is bigger then down there. Then they stich you up and your fine to go on your way ( some ppl say add an extra stich lol for sexual reasons). Its nothing to worry about...

Thank you for your reply, you made it sound a little nicer than how I heard it the first time.

Do you lose any "feeling" down there since they are cutting?

Is it a little snip right where the opening is or through your cliteris or somerhing else? I am not quite clear or maybe I don't want to accept exactly where it is that they are cutting :?

It's called an episotomy. The doctor will just make a small cut that will be easier to stitch back up rather than a tear that they cannot control. I'm pretty sure that they just don't do it all the time....
