Sinus Headaches?????
Posted: 09-26-05 15:55pm

Hi,

i`m wondering if anyone can give me some advice. I had a viral illness a while ago which i`m recovering from as it affected my nervous system. During this time I developed hayfever which i`ve never had in my life, but now I think I am getting sinus headaches. I`m not sure exactly what the symptoms of it are but I am suffering from pain behind my eyes, behind my nose feels like there is a pressure, and my face starts to hurt and tingle especially over my cheeks. I do fel like i`m getting a cold so this might be the cause of it.

Does anyone have any advice how to help ease the pain of them.

Thanks
debs

If you feel a bunch of crap inside your sinuses it helps to get one of those squeezy ball things that you suck water into then shoot it up into your sinuses. Do that with saltwater to get rid of the crap if there is any. Otherwise when I have this problem I usually sleep with a humidifier.

Sinus Headaches

Hi pinksalter

i feel sorry for you, because I know exactly how painful sinusitis is! Yes you get pain in your cheeks and temples. There are many sinus cavities inside the head and they get blocked and infected and that pressure is what causes the pain...

There are many useful natural and conventional remedies - I would recommend the natural stuff because the conventional drugs can have a lot more side effects and you cant most of them for too long because of those very side effects Rolling Eyes

some things to try:

steaming
get some steam going by either putting your head over a bowl of hot water (be careful not to get burnt, if it gets too hot, move away a bit) or have a shower and have the water hot

pepperming tea
peppermint is really good for any head colds

echinacea
this is a herb which has been shown to have healing effects on many upper/lower respiratory illnesses as it has a beneficia effect on the immune system and is recommended at the first sign of any of these illnesses (it cannot be taken for a long period so make sure you do not take it for longer than 3 weeks at a time, have a months break and then again for 3 weeks)

marshamallow
yes there is actually a herb called marshmallow! :p it is mucilaginous, so that means it lines and soothes any irritated parts of the respiratory system (and the stomach too)... It is also used in many sinus supplements (be careful in using this one if you have diabetes or any sugar problems)

fenugreek
this is spice which is used in many sinus/hayfever supplements as it helps to decongest the sinus cavities

massage
you can also do some massaging of the pressure points in your head (front and back) to ease the pain....

garlic
this is an excellent nutrient for all parts of the body - but its really good for the sinuses and for hayfever. Put it in your cooking (especially in the evening, if you dont have to go anywhere, as the smell can be quite potent Wink) and if you can, grate a few cloves of garlic and add some honey into a glass and take a teaspoon-full each hour - this should provide immense relief!

vitamin c
vitamins c is really good for helping to relieve sinusitis and hayfever

Sinus Pain And Headaches
Posted: 12-07-06 22:45pm

Hi,
i feel your pain(literally) my sinuses are very sensitive to weather barometer pressure changes in the weather and I have allergies 24/7, 365 days a year, so I can feel my sinuses fill up and the pressure is almost unbearable, having allergies doesn't help either. What I do is get a cold cloth or ice pack(you can get the ones that go over your eyes at any pharmacy) put it on the afftected areas where the pressure and pain are and go lie down for an hour. If that doesn't work, take sudafed or sinutab or there's this nose spray for hay fever sufferers that just lubricates the nasal cavity, it's better than popping pills. And someone else said about steaming...Use eucalyptus oil put a few drops in a bowl with hot water and put a towl over your head and inhale. It's okay if your boogers drip into the water, no one's going to drink it anyways.
I hope this helps

Posted: 01-31-07 18:55pm

I own a health store and have had great success with serrapeptase for sinusitus (as well as arthritus, carpal tunnel syndrone, ms, fibromyalgia - any inflammatory condition). It's a protein digesting enzyme that has proven anti-inflammatory and pain relieving properties, without side effects. It has literally changed people's lifes. Used initially in germany 30 years ago to break down arterial blockages, it fast becoming a best selling product for us. We recommend enerex serrapeptase. Here's a page specifically about serrapeptase
