Tarlov Cyst Posted: 10-28-05 05:47am
Hi I too have been told that I have a
tarlov cyst, but I should forget about it
as it is not the cause of my symptoms.
I have seen 1 neurosurgeon and 1
neurologist and am having a hard time
convincing them that the cyst is the cause
of my problems as they cant find anything
else. Is anyone else experiencing the
same and do you know of any docotr in
london who might help?

Nkaushal,
it is often difficult to get doctors to
admit that the tarlov cyst is causing
pain. Most believe what they have read
in textbooks and the textbooks state that
tarlov cysts do not cause pain...The
doctors cannot think outside the box or
book in this case....You need to see a
doctor in france...Dr. Matriot...I will
find his address for you....

Tarlov Cyst Posted: 08-18-06 11:55am
Hi,
i have just been diagnosed with a tarlov
cyst. 1.4cm.
I have been so miserable and my doctor
attributed to a ruptured disc.
She never said a word about the cyst.
I read it on my mri report. I have made
an appointment with a neuro surgeon who
deals with the spine.
I am very uncomfortable though. Constant
pressure on right side and lower back and
buttocks. From mid back to the back of
my leg throbbing by evening. Right side
is painful only.

Hazlestreet,
i am curious...What does your mri state
about your herniated disc? The pain you
feel could be coming from the lumbar
depending on the levels of the spine that
are affected.....

Hazel,
you need to find a nss (neuro spinal
surgeon) that believes that a tarlov cyst
can cause pain. Many do not believe that
it does and in fact there are only two
surgeons doing surgery that we know of for
certain. There are a few others, but
these two surgeons have done more
surgeries on the tarlov cyst than any one
else.
Those surgeons are Dr. Long at hopkins in
baltimore and Dr. Henderson at georgetown
university hospital in washington d.C.
your pain could be coming from the bulging
disc, but the cyst causes the same kind of
pain...Pain down the leg and into the feet
making walking difficult...Of course, it
depends if your cyst is a communicating
cyst...
