All cases of graves disease don't lead to Thyroid cancer though Recent prospective studies have suggested that the prevalence of clinical thyroid cancer is increased in patients with Graves' disease (1.3-1.9% vs. 0.15-0.2% in the general population). There is also some evidence of increased aggressiveness of thyroid cancer in Graves' disease(Endocrine Abstracts (2005) 9 P217).
The Graves disease causes excessive production of Thyroid hormone from the gland causing the effects eg weight loss,Goiter,Tremors and palpitation etc.
Graves disease is easy to treat has low possibility to be leading to Thyroid cancer. However in case of doubt eg if there is some nodular swelling in Thyroid etc it is necessary to consult an expert.
