Q: Need Birth Control Suggestion...

I am 24 years old and have never used birth control before. I know that many options are out there like the shot, the patch, and numerous kinds of pills. I don't know which one is right for me and I know of a few things I do not want to experience, so I am asking for some advice. Currently I have a very light period that lasts for about two days. I do not want to mess with it!!! Also, I want to avoid any possibility of gaining weight and try to avoid mood swings. Any ideas, or past experiences that may assist me in my decision?

Condoms? That's what I recently switched to, and I couldn't be happier!

I was on the pill for about 7 months and quit because I couldn't stand the weight gain, mood swings and just overall "blah" feeling. But the pill reacts differently to everyone.

Re: Need Birth Control Suggestion...
Unfortunately, its impossible to tell if a bc is going to have side effects for you until you try it. Your period is prob going to be messed with but it could stay the same. As for just condoms, prob not the safest method, as there could be small tears or holes and they could break suddenly. The best person you could talk to about it is your doc about your specific wants and expectactions for using bc. Everyone has a different reaction but its very possible you could find something that works for you very quickly. I have used a few different brands of the pill and have settled on triphasal happily. Another thing to think about is that the pill can reduce cramp pain from your period, if thats a prob for you. Good luck!

I also have a very light period, 2-3 days, and the pill did not affect the duration; it might have gotten a little heavier, but that's it.

I have not had any moods swings or weight gain. My bf thinks my boobs got bigger, that's it, lol.

My bf and I used condoms for about 5 months, and then I got on bc pills. I feel much safer on the pills; plus, we can have condom-less sex!
