Gauze Strips Inside of You Posted: 09-21-05 00:43am
I want to know what would happen if gauze
strips were left inside of you by
accident. Would it cause abcessces to
form? I had my apendix removed. Got a
staph infection in the wound had to use
these strips that we would put into the
wound and pull out. The only thing was it
was like they would shorten and leave some
inside of me. 2 years later about I had
abcecceses. There were alot of them they
had been there for a long long time. I
know the infection was gone so that wasnt
the cause of these abcesses that I know
of. One of my theories is that it was the
left overs of those gauze strips that
might have caused it.

My mom had a c-section with my brother and
the Dr. Left the guaze in her and
stitched her back up. She ended up
getting a major infection and had to be
put on some heavy antibiotics. She never
did do anything about the Dr. I would
have sued his sorry a$$. Lol
kind of a different subject but same idea.

Ya I should have sued to. How did she get
a infection when they are sterol? I
should have sued for improper treatment of
my wound. Not teaching the proper means
to put them in and take the strips out. I
wish I had sued to now. I never really
got a infection. Until later on when I
got strep b. But it wasn’t the cause of
my abscesses. That was obvious. I still
cant see how you could get a infection
from gauze inside of you when its sterile.
Her immune system would attack it and
produce abscesses instead like it did with
me. So that means she had a double whammy
the doctor not only left them in her but
he gave her a infection to!! What’s
worse is my girl friend was trying so hard
to fix me. She thought by pressing into
them and rupturing them that they would go
away and stay away. Of course I got worse
and she felt very guilty causing her pain
and me. She was only trying to help.
