Which do you ladies think is more valid, cervical fluid that is egg-white and stretchy as a sign of ovulation, or those predictor tests? I bought one from clear blue easy, and it says my lh (lutenizing horomone) isn't high enough to be ovulating, but I still think I could be. Can't tell by my cycle, because I went off the pill and now my periods are totally irregular!

The kit is more accurate, but if you combine the kits with checking your cervix and charting your temp, you'll know every month when you ovulate. You have to take the kit everyday at the same time, and if you miss a day and get a negative the next day, you might have already ovulated or be about to. The kits detect the hormone surge 12-36 hours before you actually ovulate.

Thanks, nancy!
I am going to try a combination of those things...My cycle is super irregular right now and I know that is making it harder. I went off the pill in july and since then I have had no idea when anything is happening to my body!! Since we just started trying, I think we're going to just do the sex every other day thing and watch and wait. Baby dust to you also!

In all honesty, your cm being of egg white consistancy is probably a better indicator of your fertility than the tests are, unless you are using those tests twice a day. Here's why:

if you are taking the test at 10 am in the morning on day 1 and surge on day one at around 5pm, then your am test on day 1 and am test on day 2 will have missed that surge.

If you test at 10am and again at 3 pm, the 3pm will pick up the surge.

I hope you were able to follow this.

Many fertility specialists will often recommend to a patient being monitored, that they take an opk test 2 times a day just for the reason I have mentioned above.

I hope this was of some help to you! Good luck!
