Q: Ovulation??

Hopefully someone can answer this. I have had nothing but babies on the brain for the last 4 months so I have been doing alot of research on the net about ovulation and stuff like that. They say that the egg only lives for 24 hours, but then the next thing that I come across is that you can get preg. Anytime during your cycle, but it is more likely for it to happen during ovulation. So... How can you get preg. If your egg only lives for 24 hours. Would there be nothing there for the sperm to fertilize?

I'm really confused. I thought I had it straight, but then all the stuff I read just confuses me.

Some people with very irregular periods will ovulate at any point in her cycle. If your periods are regular, you are prolly ovulating 14 days before your next period is due. If you have an average 28 day cycle, have sex daily or at least every other day from days 10-20 of your cycle (with first day of period being day one). Good luck and have fun!

Hi thanks for the reply.

I do understand when ovulation should occur.. But... I have heard of so many people getting pregnant when they are not ovulating??? I just don't understand. Is it cause they ovulate early/late?? Hmmmm...

Thanks.. I think I got it now. Man, I feel like I am back in school just learning about this stuff. Too bad they don't have a class you can take. My problem is that I was adopted, so I can't even get advice from my mom cause she really has no clue about any of this stuff either, and my hubby's parents only speak limited english (we are a bi-racial couple) I am kinda going through it blind.

Anywho. Thanks for the reply's

I read a study a while ago that said they think ovulation actually happens many times throught the cycle instead of the day 13-15 thing. I don't think they have done anymore research has been done on it though, or it wasn't comfirmed, because it still says day 14 in every book i've looked in!!

Really??? Wow - that's interesting. Could be an answer to why so many girls claim to have conceived when they were not "ovulating"

hmmm.
