When I get hungry my head begins to feel
groggy and if I let it go I begin to get a
headache. I feel like i'm going to pass
out and I get very shakey. I have been
tested for diabetes and found that my
blood sugar levels are alright and there
isn't any reason for my head to feel this
way but it does. I can have a full
stomach yet my head can still feel like
this. The only type of food that get's
rid of this feeling is just a half of a
sandwitch. It has to be bread and meat.
Nothing else solves the problem. At
least for a couple of hours. Also if I
go to sleep hungry my body will wake
itself up and I feel terrible and I have
to hurry up and eat my sandwitch then in
about 5 min. I feel better again and it
will last for the rest of the night.
Help me please!!

That happens to a lot of people. I get
.S.U.P.E.R crabby and groggy if I don;t
eat. There' diabetes in my family too
but I don't have it. Not too sure what
causes it but I know a lot of people that
get tired or cranky, or forgetfull when
hungry.

I don't just get groggy though. I get
panic stricken. My body feels totally
crappy and I feel like I could die! It's
terrible!
Thanks for the reply.

Hi I found out that although my blood
sugar levels were fine I was still
hypoglycemic. If I don`t eat every two
hours I start to feel faint, get headaches
and feel terrible. One time I never ate
for hours and my whole body took a bad
reaction, I started to shake
uncontrollably and had to have something
to eat immediately as I faint very easily.
I wouldn`t leave long between meals
either as you can get really bad acid,
heartburn and indigestion.
The only other thing I can say is watch
what you eat if I eat carbs I feel like
going to sleep not long after, I find that
meat, nuts, fruit and veg are all good and
they are good for you!
Good luck, hope this helps

I guess it's just very frustrating for me.
I have to be careful what I eat, where I
eat and will they have the right food! I
mean before we go out to eat with our
friends I make sure I eat a half of a
sandwich because I don't know how long it
will be before we eat. It's just a huge
pain to always carry a little cooler
everywhere I go, just in case.
I have tried to eat the more healthy
things, nuts, fruit, etc. But those
things just don't work for me. I can be
totally full from let's say a pizza but my
head still tells me that I must eat a half
of a sandwich. It's been 3 years now and
all I can do is say grrrrrrrrrr! Lol.
Thanks for all your help! If you find
anything else please let me know.
Thanks so much and god bless!
John

Actually eating makes most people feel
groggy, especially when high fat and carb
loaded meals. Not eating can make you
much more alert. Cavemen were this way
and it's how our bodies react to not
eating. We have to have energy and
alertness to hunt after going long periods
of time without eating. That's why
eating 3 very heavy meals is a method of
control. It makes you sluggish, much
smaller meals 4-6 a day will leave you
with much more energy. When you eat your
body uses tons of energy to break it down
and this in turn causes free radicals to
be released into your body. Not a good
thing... Just make sure to get at least
100 grams of carbs a day because your
brain cannot function correctly without
that many and aim for a higher protein
diet. Eat only good fats, like in
almonds, olive oil, etc. You might
notice a difference... Also drink tons
of water. Maybe your metabolism is ultra
slow or you could have a problem with your
thyroid.

I am hypogylcemic also. I was told to
eat 6 small meals a day. Try to avoid
sugary foods or lots of carbs, they turn
to sugar pretty fast. Try to eat
protein, it stays with you much longer
since it takes your body longer to break
down.
If you start to get shaky drink oj or eat
a small hard candy to get your blood sugar
up and then eat a small meal.
