I have been taking ortho tri cyclen lo for a week now. I have had the worse heartburn in the world!! I woke up in the middle of the night, and felt like I could not breathe my heartburn was so bad!! I have never had experience such as this. If anyone else has experienced this, or any other major side effects, please tell me!

Thank you!! :)

I'm on ortho lo and have never experianced heart burn from it. But diff side effects happen on diff peeps. Or you could have just ate something that didn't go well with your stomach.

That's what I was thinking... I haven't really ate anything different, but I have been drinking tons of tea lately, which I usually don't. So, I dont know if that would really cause it, but I quit drinking it just to make sure. Thanks

Oh, and another side effect. I have been on my period for 9 days. But, it has eased up, with just occasional spotting with a darker brownish color. Is this a normal side effect with ortho tri cyclen lo??

When did you start the pills? After your period, or just whenever?

I started my period on sunday, but I didn't get to go to the dr until monday. So, she told me to just take 2 pills on monday, so it would be like I started it the day of my period, and on sunday.

See, I start my active pills the day after my period stops (when I receive a new prescription, not every month), that way i'm not taking active pills during my period. Since your period was already going, of course you're still going to have it even though you started the active pills partway through it. Your body still has to get rid of all that mentstrual material. I think it's because of when you started taking the pills that has had the adverse effect on your period.
