Q: Why Am I Getting Sent Home?

Hello, I am 37 weeks along and yesterday morning started having pretty strong contractions. They were bearable and not wanting to go to the hospital early I toughed through them. Around 8pm that day they were starting to get so hard and frequent I was hunched over the desk calling my husband, telling him to come home from work. I timed contractions with him until about 11pm, and my contractions were about 4-5 minutes apart and very painful, so off we went to the hospital. Unfortunately after 2 hours of painful contractions in the hospital I was still only at 2cm (the same as when I came in 2 hours earlier), so they gave me a shot of demerol and sent me home, not really giving me a cue on if I should come back and when. Six hours later (i barely slept) my contractions are there but seem to be weakened a bit. Is it possible that braxton hicks could be so painful and frequent? I'm a little confused about what's happening and why i'm getting sent home in pain? What do you guys think?

Might have been real contractions--just not productive as they call them, and if the demerol stopped them or eased them dramatically not in labor far enough. Cuz nothing can stop full blown labor. If it is full blown it will continue no matter what they do.

Are you still havin them now???
It is 9:12 sunday morning

I was right on due date with daughter my contractions were 4-5 mins apart but they wouldnt take me in until I was 4 cm dilated. I went home tired and in pain found a way to deal with pain (ice on tummy lol) fell asleep I was so tired my water broke 1hrs and half after being out of hospital.....................They were ticked because a first mom isnt supposed to have a short labour lol mine was 4 hrs with 30 mins of pushing so there a bunch of bs. With number two I have to go in right away but by the looks of it im going in early so I wish u luck

Labor And Delivery
Yeah, gurl any time you go to the hospital and your are not dilated to a certain cm they will send you home because I went to the hospital due to the fact that my sack was leaking and all they did was check me I was dilated 2cm it was early that morning and the nurse told me that all it was the sac had a little leak but I would go into labor that night so around about 8:00p.M. My bag had completely broke and I was having really bad contraction and this was my first child but I only stayed in delivery about 2 hours.
