My other half is bipolar and is not
stable. He cycles often. As many
comments I have read he too is loving and
has a good heart, but then he changes to
someone I do not know even after all these
years. Though I have found many
patterns and have learned how to react, so
that we can get through it. I do not
always handle it rationally as I wish I
could. My feelings get hurt and I get
tired.
He threatens to leave me often and we have
known each other for over 30 years. I
have finally realized he just has days he
feels like running and it is not me he
wants to leave. He wants to leave
himself (the bipolar), but can't though he
believes at the time he can change
locations or situations to make things
better. It is really hard to remember
this sometimes. I love him dearly.
Well, on to my question. Can anyone
who is bipolar, especially bipolar 3 share
what medications seem to work for you?
Do you find the medication seems to stop
working after a period of time and
medication changes become necessary?
He has a very high metabolism. Please
share so we can share with his doctor and
have a easier life.

My first question to you would be is he
religious at all? I am also bipolar and
had very bad cycles. Especially in the
fall and spring. It wasn't until I
opened up to god and the bible that things
started to get better for me. I was on 4
meds...Depakote, lithium, klonipin, and
seroquel. The doctor has taken me off of
lithium and seroquel and is working on the
rest.
My advice to you would be to listen to
your husband and ask him questions when
you notice something. I know my biggest
problem was that I didn't like to talk
things out or even deal with them. I
hated having emotions. To me crying is
the biggest release. I have even learned
to accept my emotions. I have always
been emotional and sensitive. This is
hard in a world full of so much hate and
violence. So listen to each other.

I'm bipolar type 2; I got off of meds
because they nearly ruined my professional
life (not to mention my personal one)
becareful what you ask for; you might have
a 'real' relationship and meds make it
worse.
