I recently had lithrotipsy (sp?) and am in the process of passing the stones (5mm, 3mm and maybe some more). They are currently moving through the ureter to the bladder. Have had some intense pain at time and having a very difficult time achieving or maintaining an erection. I'm 47, never had erection problems. Is this a result of the kidney stone and pain associated with the movement of the ston? Would appreciate some knowledge on this matter, very depressed.

same situation
Hi I am 25 years old, and I have a kidney stone around 2mm. I used to have a really active sex life and never had erection problems. I felt the pain around one 3 weeks ago and after I came back to home from ER couldn't have erection. same happened up until now. It really caused so many problems for my relationship and it is really depressing. I am using cialic now which is totally awesome. however i really want to cure this problem and not just ignore it by using ED medicine. I beleive there is a connection between kidney stone and erectile dysfunction, or at least it can be a cause of pain killers that i have prescibtion for. one example might be percoset which if you search in google you can find couple of instances. It seems it hasn't proved yet but i beleive that there should be a relationship.

Kidney Stones and ED
I just was diagnosed with a 3mm kidney stone and haven't felt too much pain yet. But I cannot get an erection, my penis actually feels really numb with no sensation. I've never had problems with erection my entire life. Anybody else with the same problem or know why I can't get an erection?

My Husband is only 29 and he has had a kidney stone in the past. Recently he has had pain in his kidneys and he had peeed out little bits of sediment or stones. The pain is severe and almost makes his knees buckle. Then, when we go to have sex, in the middle of it he loses the erection and he has also said it feels numb. It makes him depressed. He has asked doctors if there is a link between kidney pain and erectile disfunction but they just look at him like he's crazy. It's so fustrating. We are trying to have a baby. I feel so upset watching him in pain. Wish doctors cared enough to look into it.

kidney stones can cause Erectile Dysfunction
I'm a 44 year old About 2 years ago, I was dealing with kidney stones. About the same time I was experiencing problems which I thought were ED. I told my urologist what was happening as far as my inability to perform like I had been use to. Without hesitation, he told me, "Once you pass these stones, I can almost assure you things will be back to normal. I passed the stones and he was right...things returned to normal. Hydrate as much as possible and add a glass of lemonade to your daily routine and stay positive...I believe once you pass the stones, things will improve.

I recently was hospitalized with what I found to be my first Kidney stone at the age of 55 though I have been having ED for around 12 years. I injured my lower back around the same time and became sick with hypothyroidism 4 years later so when ever I had back pain I thought it was my lower back injury acting up. Until reading these post and feeling the same pain from a Kidney stone I have my doubts now that I have ED because I never had a problem with that before and my Kidneys have a lot of small stone's in them so I'm told by the specialist. I have some experience in the medical field and a minor in human science so I enjoy researching and doing my own prognosis and letting my doctor know what my symptoms are by keeping good accounts. I hope the stone's are the root of my ED problem, this has disrupted my life long enough. I want to thank those of you who believe it is. I go to the VA GU clinic on the 3rd of July so we will see what they say. I will post a follow up on my story. John

Kidney Stones and Erectile Dysfunction
Starting having ED problems six months ago. Losing erection halfway through sex. 2 months ago got diagnosed with a large kidney stone. Surgeon inserted a stent ( a glorified plastic tube) between kidney and bladder some 6 weeks ago to assist in a later (tomorrow) operation to blast the stone.

The stent evidently stops the stone from blocking the ureter or entering it.

Lo and behold, my ED problems completely disappeared after the insertion of the stent.

Post surgery Kidney stones.
Hi: I had 16 stones out in 2011 immediately after recover y I had a loss of erections. I went from 3 to 6 times a day with my wife, to 1-2 times a week. I got checked testosterone normal health normal. Doctor says no it can't be, because of the surgery cause the nerves for one are no where near the surgical site.
I am telling you guys. Its a lie! now I have one erection every 3 weeks. I spoke to a Urology surgeon, he jumped on. Saying there is no way its possible.
But later when talking with this surgeon at a different time "much later, weeks later" about a stint he found in a patient that had been forgoten by another doctor, so he removed it. I asked. Are you going to report the Doctor?
He snapped back. Are you kidding if I report this guy the surgical association will black list me etc. So his reaction was the same tone and attitude as my question about the lack of erections from post surgery.
So what I can gather. Its all a lie!, cause the treatment for stones wrecks men. But it has to be done, to save the patient etc. I guess.
They say oh, its you. Just use the magic pill. This is all a lie so they won't get sued, and screw up the decisions made by future patients to remove stones or not. These doctors collectively lie to patients to save their practices.
and avoid malpractice claims.
