When I was 14 I started getting acne, then it got out of control. Really bad.
I started on tetracyclene and it wasn't working so I went on accutane.
My acne was gone within months and never got as bad as it was before I took it.
Although there are side effects, I didn't have any except for the dry face, which I encouraged :p better than pimples I thought.
I've heard of this "suicidal tendancy" theory and can say i've never had any. I think the studies should look into the fact that people who take accutane probably had low self esteem in their teenage years, which might coincide with suicidal tendancies.
Anyway, eventually my acne began to fade, around 17/18 and kept fading.
Now i'm 29 and get a couple every once in a while, but so does everyone.
I don't know what the complications are for women, so you should look into it. But I would recommend accutane to anyone who has bad acne that they can't get rid of with antibiotics.
