Hi i'm new here and i've been reading some posts. Congrats to all. I'm having my 2nd child, a girl in october. I am curious, even though my doctor says he's not concerned since the baby is doing excellent... I'm 33w1d, gained 8lbs form my prepregnancy weight, lost 4 lbs. Last week the doctor estimated the baby's weight to be 4lbs 15oz. Does anyone think my weight loss will cause preterm labor? I was overweight to begin with. Again, nice to meet you all and hope to get to know yous more.

Hi,
i dont know if this helps you at all, I am 30 weeks preg and during the first trimester I lost approximatley 5 kilos. It happened with my first child born also.I think the weight loss in my regard was the terrible morning sickness and vomiting that that I endured during the first few months. Also it was very hard for me to eat or even drink during that time.

Trudi, some women who are overweight to begin with have very low weight gain during pregnancy. I think its very common. As long as you are taking vitamins and eating--the baby will be fine. Our body knows how to supply the needs for the baby even if you dont eat right.

Hey trudi

I gained 20 extra lbs with #1 and lost 14 lbs this pregnancy im 24 wks and so far have only gained 2 lbs to date. My dr was really ticked at me for losing weight but I eat like a pig lol!!!! I never had morning sickness or anything that would not make me eat except I work and eat my meals on schedule. I have complications that may make have preterm birth but it is not due to weight loss dr told me because I was worried like you although they did do bloodwork for thyroid problems which came back neg. Dont worry too much just be happy baby is over 4 lbs I was 5 lbs 4 oz when born but the rest of my sibling were 6 lbs so sometimes its just a fluke..................................... .
