Q: Symptoms Related to Endometriosis?

I've been dealing with health problems since I was 17 and now am 20. I started getting sick when I had a pain/pulling sensation in my lower left abdomen. I went to the doctor and had different test done but it seemed like I was getting no where and more sicker. I was nauseous a lot, felt very fatigued, had muscle weakness from time to time, and sometimes a lathargic feeling in my head and my arms would feel shakey like I was going to pass out. I lost weight, I was 105 and went down to 89 pounds. To make a long story short I was diagnosed with endometriosis early last year. They found adhesisons on my left ovary and my ovary was attached to my uterus but my doctor thought for the little endo I had I shouldn't be having as much symptoms as I was having but I heard of women having a lot of endo with no symptoms and women with a little and a lot of symptoms? Did anyone else hear of this? I did gain some weight back and don't think I am as bad as I use to be but I still don't feel good at times almost a week and a half before my period and then during, so I am almost sick on and off 3 weeks out of the 4 weeks of the month. Does any one else feel this way with endo or do you think not all my symptoms are related to endo and there is still something else going on? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Extremely eHealthy
I Too Was Diagnosed With Endo When I Was 21
I to was diagnosed with endo when I was 21. My sister has endo very badly and my mum had it before she had children. I suggest that you get a second opinion. Feeling ill for 3 weeks doesn't sound right to me. And as for small endo being more painful that alot, I don't think that is correct. Mine is only small and although it is still quite painful for me most months I can take a few painkillers and i'm ok. My sister in the other hand has an extreme case where she has to take time off work each month.

Hope I have helped!!

Thankyou pixma for your information. I too think there might be something going on other than my endometriosis. It just gets frustrating because i've been dealing with these health issues for about 2 and a half years already and it takes a toll on you emotionally because you just want to feel the way you use to. I had pretty many test and the doctor's sort of give up or say its stress because they have no answers. All I know is its not normal the way I feel. The only other thing I can think of is I had a blood test done and it showed that I had a high antibody for gluten but when I had the endoscopy done it was normal and the biopsy was negative for celiac disease I tried a gluten-free diet for 2 months but I didn't think I felt any better on it unless I needed to be on it longer. Maybe I just have an allergy or intolerance to it but this is what i've been up against almost trying to figure it out for myself because I don't have any insurance right now. Im trying to just live a normal life and not dwell on it but that is hard when you have days you just don't feel good to do much. Well thanks again for your info and if anyone else has info on this or maybe food intolerances it whould be appreciated it.

Can you still have kids if you have endo? How did you find out you had it?

Yes I can still have kids the doctor said I should be able to with no problem. I found out I had endo from a laprascopy. Its a procedure where the doctor makes a small insicison through the bellybotton and with a scope he looks at your reproductive organs.

Similar Symptoms
I don't think I have endometriosis, but I have very painful period. I have a coworker who has endometriosis and we have compared our experiences. From what it sounds like, I have most of the symptoms that she has. For example, we both would spot between periods, we both have to be bed rested on the first day of our period, we're both cold all the time, we both have extremely long cycles (40-50 days), we both have long periods (7-10 days).. I am pretty into nutrition and herbal remedies. I think we both have the same body type and metabolism, which probably makes me a likely candidate for endo in the future.
Recently I found out that vit b complex and along with many other vitamins are important to a woman's hormone and cervix health. 3 months ago I started taking b complex, one a day for women, and calcium. 1 month later, I noticed my period is less painful. And then another month later, my period was shortened to only 5 days. And this month, my cycle has reduced to only 30 days and I experienced absolutely no pain at all.
I've had my problems since I was 13. It never occurred to me that vitamins may help.
Hope this may help. :)

Thanks bigangellover for responding to my post. I was wondering how many milligrams of b vitamin and calcium you take. I was taking a multi-vitamin which has the vitamin b in but maybe I need more.

Vitamins
That's the same for me too. I took a multi vitamin, but I don't think it's strong enough. There is also the fact that we dont absorb 100% of what goes into the body.
For multi-vitamin, I take one a day for women's
vit b complex, I get them from trader joe's and costco has it too
thiamin (50 mg)
riboflavin (50mg)
niacin (50 mg)
vit b6 (50 mg)
folate (400 mcg)
vit b12 (50 mcg)
biotin(50 mcg)
pathothetic acid (50 mg)

calcium citrate, not carbonate (500 mg)

also after taking them everyday for 2 months, I have started taking them only every other day cuz I don't want to overdose.

One More Thing
I want to add is that i'm on my third month on the vit pills. During this period, i've had 1 day of just brown blood. I don't know if this means I had endometriosis and the old blood is shredding?

I'm also reading up that endometrisois is more common when the immune system is impaired because the immune system would destroy all unnatural cells, including endometrial that's growing outside of the uterus. So maybe taking vit b calcium other vitamins --> better immune system --> destroy endometrial in the system?

I sure hope so.

a Little Advice
Hey there, just a reply to your endometriosis. I was diagnosed with it when I was 17. I am now 21 and still have it. I have been on various birth control methods to control the pain I feel. Some months I am fine and others I have extreme pain. When I was diagnosed I didn't have pain on my period. It was mid cycle when I was ovulating, the doctors didn't think it was endometriosis because I didn't fit the typical symptoms. As for the dark blood, i've had that lately as well. Some of my periods I will have dark blood for the first day and then normal after, some I just have dark blook, it almost looks as if its just dead, dry blood coming out of you.

Hope this helps just a little
