Hi nereida,

the same thing happened to my sister. She had her period throughout the whole pregnancy. She was worried sick that she was miscarrying everytime the period started, but she went on to have a perfectly healthy little girl. So yes it does happen. It is possible to become pregnant while you are having your period, although the chances are lower, as a woman would normally ovulate 14 days after a period. If a woman is having a period and becomes pregnant, then she probably wouldn't be aware of it, unless she took a pregnancy test to confirm it. There are a few pregnancy symptoms that may alert her to the possibility of pregnancy, although not everyone experiences symptoms.

Periods & Pregnancy
Yes, you can keep having your period (& fall pregnant during!!) in fact I have heard of women having their period right throughout their pregnancies. As to how you can check - I would 1st buy a pregnancy test kit, but I think the best bet really would be to see a dr & have both a blood & urine test done. Of course this depends on whether your concern is a one-off or a regular thing (no moral judgement here just reality) - I mean you can't really drop by the dr each month to check, well you could but if it kept coming back negative I think you'd feel pretty silly sooner or later - I know I would.

Period And Pregnancy
I have a question related to this - if you are pregnant and having your period, then would a home pregnancy test come out positive or would it be negative until your period stopped? Sounds strange, but just curious.
