I am 28 years old and I have stopped taking my birth control pill after ten years. My last period was aug 10th and I did not start a new pack after that. I started taking my pill when I was 17 due to my period kind of being somewhat all over the place- I got it every month just never at the right time- I have never taken a break from my pill and have been consistant with it for ten years.
I got married two months ago and I have two beautiful step sons and I never wanted children of my own. My husband had a vasectomy last year and was tested in jan. To check for his sterile status- which was negative. I stayed on my pill up until my wedding/honeymoon was over to avoid any messy accidents on my occasions (that happened to me all of the time when I was a teenager) :?
Anyway, I was supposed to get my period this week and since i've been off my pill, i've had crazy signs that it was coming but nothing! Last weekend I ate like a truckdriver and my face and shoulders have broken out a lot this past week. I also had some bloating episodes from time to time these last two weeks. I know that I have not actually ovulated for ten years due to being on the pill and I realize that I have not had a real period for that long either. I'm just frustrated because I want my body to be normal and I don't want to have to take the pill again. I know that i'm not pg becasue my husband is sterile. I've been taking vitex - an herb to straighten our my hormones for the past week and i've been doing a lot of research on how to get my real cycle back on track again! Has anybody else gone thru this?? I just can't stand having these crazy pms signs and no period!!! Any advice would greatly be apprecited!!!

I went thru the same thing I was on the bc pill for 8 years. My dr told me it can take 6 months to a year for a woman to regulate after biwng on bc. Longer if you were on the shot....

If you don't have a cycle for more than 8 weeks you need to call your Dr. It is not healthy to keep your "lining" in there for that long. Also they can do some tests to rule out some other problem... Like pcos.
