Well..
They are essentially the same thing, hormone-wise and effective-wise. The difference is, the patch is a once a week thing, while you have to take the pill everyday...

Either...
I've used both and I would say I like the patch better because you don't have to remember to take a pill everyday at the same time. With the patch it's a once a week thing and I never forgot to change it but with the pill I have so it's really up to you they both have the same effiency.

So Don't Use the Patch
Now they're finding out that the patch can give you a higher risk of blood clots because it releases all the hormones that'd you need over the week in the first day. So if you want to be on the safe side just get on the pill.
I think it's effective enough :)

Patch has had major problems with death, a dozen last year in fact. I'd suggest either pills or nuvaring. I use nuvaring and think it's great. The pill has been around since 1960, so if you can remember to take it everyday at the same time without messing with it, then try the pill. Nuvaring is super simple and if you eat right and take vitamins, you shouldn't feel different than your same old self (at least that's my experience). Talk to your gyn about it, or look it up.

Nuvaring.Com
there are also websites where you can find info about various brands of the pill (the whole archive of pills was too confusing for me).
