Q: Worried And Scared. Can Someone Help???

I had unprotected sex with a girl for the first time in my life. That happened about 8 weeks back. Until then, I had been very faithful to my wife and only my wife. This happened accidentaly, and since then, I am caught in the trauma of hiv infection. I am scared to go and ask her about it, if she is a infected person. I had a severe sore throat , followed by severe tiredness everyother day. Tiredness exists for more than an hour and later subsides off. I also have a white tongue with a pain in the throat from then on. It have not left me until now. Seriously, I also have cough now and then. No fever, no weight loss, no diarea, no swollen glands and no rashes till now.

1. With these symptoms, could I have aquired hiv?
2. Does the process of sero conversion stop a person from getting cured in minor viral infections like sore throat, cough, whitenning of tongue and so on?
3. Should I necessarily get tested?
4. I feel so depressed and worried, and everyother minute to feel like testing my body for newer symptoms and get agrevated of the situation?
5. I am not able to concentrate, and I get wierd thoughts, as I go through this hell of time.

Can someone share your opinions and ideas please. Please give more practical solutions.

Relax!
Take it easy! Yes, you need a test but mostly it's due to the fact that you had unprotected sex and it's a routine form of advise. It's just to rule it out, but don't worry. Refrain from having unprotected sex until you have an exam, especially with the wife. The odds are very much in your favor, so relax!

It happens, but it's rare to get infected through one time insertive exposure. Your symptoms are not indicitive of ars. Symptoms are not a good avenue to determine your hiv status, only a test after 3 months from last exposure.

You do have a significant risk of catching another std, so I would work up a panel and get the results from the doctor.

Why don't you speak to the girl? Ask her to ease your mind, but don't use the answer as the difinitive answer.

You made an error and you may be fortunate to turn out perfectly fine. Use a condom next time.
