Q: Getting Rid of Deoderant Buildup In Armpits?

As deoderants have gotten increasingly more powerful over the years I have noticed that the buildup they leave in my armpit gets increasingly worse too. I have tried many types of deoderant to see if some aren't as bad as others, but they all seem to be the same anymore, and my armpits end up looking very gray, sometimes yellowish gray from them. I've found that if I lather my armpits with bar soap, like irish spring, and use my fingernails to scratch, I can scrape off alot of this, but even then, the discoloring remains, and even if I don't wear deoderant for a week or more (something I really prefer not to have to do) and scratch at my soapy armpits every day, it still remains. Scratching at them without soap can be painful and does not seem to be nearly as effective btw...

Does anyone know of something I can use to remove this buildup?

I've not really heard of that before... Personally I use lynx (axe in america), or I use a simple adidas antiperspirant. You shouldn't get a buildup if you use it in the right amount (a short spray).

I use xtreme sport, the right guard stuff with the power stripe, but i've also used old spice and tons of different kinds and i've never had a problem like the one you are talking about, and I apply mine multiple times throughout the day.
Although, when I have my daily shower and go to wash my armpits it feels like there is a thick residue over the skin there from the deoderant, but all I do is wash it with bar soap untill I don't feel the residue anymore and I don't have to scratch at it or anything like that, so maybe you just don't shower everyday or you just don't clean your pits enough, than you start scratching them, i'm not sure.

i use the right guard xtreme sport invisible solid. I think this may be a little different than what you are talking about, but I like it. It works well and feels good.

I tend to not get a build up when I use an invisible solid. You might try that.

:d yes but it does sting a little. My fiance does this to her hair. Take baking soda and make a paste with water under your arm and scrub a little bit, it's mildly abrasive. Then with a small squirt bottle rinse it off with applecider vinager. Yes it's like your 5th grade science fair project but it will remove the buildup. Hair dressers use it as a stripper for product buildup on hair. It's natural and cheap. By the way you can use baking soda under your arms as a deodorant rather than harsh under arm sprays and roll arms. They are very harming to the body. Moisture produces bacteria which then produces odor and if you have something there to absorb the moisture then you have nothing there to produce an odor. You have nothing to loose but.
