if you want to lose weight and not end up being sectioned. You should try and eat when your hungry, stop eating when your full. If you starve yourself you put so much strain on your body. Imagine if you damaged yourself so much that something really bad happened to you? Would you feel proud or would you just feel like an fool. Whats the big deal with looking like skeletor anyway? It's not natural.

I just would like to understand how can people be so angry at themselves that they are willing to starv themselves to death. We are raised seeing how people in africa die of hunger everyday, they would give anything to have something to eat yet there is people with all kinds of food available who voluntary want to die of hunger just like them. It is beyond my comprehension.

Sorry that you're feeling this way about yourself to make yourself eat so little. Why not take it easy eat healthy and lose healthy, and that way you will keep it off. You wont survive long on 300 cal make sure youre atleast drinking alot of water. If I was you I would seek councelling, and see a dietition. I think this is more of a sickness than anything. Good luck!

[quote="doodlebug21"]1600 calories??? "YES" Shocked

I'm eating 100-200 calories a day and working out daily. "GREAT BLIND LEADING THE BLIND"

gizz.
I'd weigh 400 lbs if I ate that much. " I WOULD RATHER BE 400 lbs then be STARVING"
I don't think anyone in their right mind would ever eat that much in one day. " UH DUH- MOST PEOPLE EAT AROUND THAT MUCH IN A DAY!!"
That's what I eat in two weeks.-"WHICH MEANS YOU NEED HELP"

To answer your question Nicole, follow what your body tells you.
Remember that feeling hungry means your burning fat
"WHEN YOU"RE HUNGRY IT MEANS ITS TIME TO EAT!"

Let yourself be hungry, but if you find that you're feeling weak or dizzy, you definitely need to eat more.
"YES like more than 1000 calories per day! YOU WILL FEEL DIZZY IF YOU EAT 100-200 CAL PER DAY! WHATS THAT LIKE 2 APPLES..... OR MAYBE 4 PEANUTS PER DAY?"

Also, instead of limiting calories, I'd suggest first up-ing your exercize. "EAT A BALANCED DIET AND EXERCISE- YOU WILL BECOME LEAN AND NOT BONEY"
It's the biggest thing you can do, because it burns fat the fastest.
More food and more exercize together can cause a much better result than starving yourself. "STARVE YOURSELF AND THEN EXERCISE (you should really take this advice from someone who acts like a pro and can't spell exercise! YOU KNOW- YOUR BODY ALSO USES CALORIES FOR ENERGY SO IF YOU EAT 300 CAL IT WILL BE BURNT OFF IN 20 MIN AT THE GYM- THEN WHATS YOUR BODY SUPPOSE TO USE FOR ENERGY?)

I can't emphasize enough that you shouldn't eat too little.
I've been there. (100-200 CALORIES A DAY- SORRY BUT YOU"RE STILLL THERE)
If you're getting sick or dizzy or light headed, it means you are eating too little. (WHAT LIKE 50 CALORIES PER DAY) You're only gonna gain weight that way. (SO WILL YOU WHEN YOU DECIDE TO EAT NORMAL)

I'd also like to say that 100lbs may be too small. (FINALLY WE AGREE)
Try talking to someone you admire. (LIKE A DIETITIAN? SUPPORT GROUP?)
Find out the weights of some celebrities around your height and such. (FIND OUT HOW YOU FEEL BEST WHEN YOU"RE LOSING WEIGHT IN A HEALTHY WAY)
You might even ask someone who you think is really pretty how much they weigh. I know it can be akward, but I bet you'd be surprised at their answer. (OR MAYBE YOU CAN BE YOURSELF AND JUST WEIGH WHATS BEST FOR YOUR BODY BECAUSE NO TWO PEOPLE WILL LOOK ALIKE AT THE SAME WEIGHT SAME HEIGHT- DIFFERENT BUILDS)

Don't let this get out of control.
An eating disorder is not a fun thing to have, and it's like a drug.
Once you're hooked, you're hooked. (LIKE YOU?)

Be smart. (GET HELP)
Be positive. (GET HELP)
Realize that the way you look shouldn't determine the way you feel about yourself. There are things bigger than the outside of a person. (AGREED)

Should she talk to you and admire you because you eat 100-200 cal per day? I like how you added be smart.. Because- what you're saying is really smart... Whoa! you need a doctor

1600 Calories a day is rather normal for people to eat. Eating 100-200 calories a day is ABNORMAL if not stupid. You are eating your body from the inside out.

And NO you wouldn't weigh 400 pounds if you ate 1600 calories a day. Most Normal women eat around that much and exercise regularly and have NO problem losing the weight they desire.

I ate 1200- 1400 before I got pregnant. Now I eat 1600 and I am very healthy. You're right about the 400 pounds.. I weighed under 150 when I got pregnant. I am 5'11 also.. I eat healthy foods- Fruit, veggies, meat, etc and I have so much energy to burn off the calories all day. I have been the same weight for such a long time (before I got pregnant). I have gained about 20 pounds, but am 8 months pregnant. ALso if I wanted to lose weight after the baby is here. I would probably cut back to 1400 cal again- work out 20- 30 min per day. Then go down to 1200 and that would bring my body back if not to less weight then I was before. Its all about balance.. IF I was eating 300 cal or 100-200 cal.. Where would I cut back!?

300 calories a day is NOT NOT NOT enough to even do NORMAL daily functions! If you're working out on top of that you are STRAINING your body! Eating this little will only make your body store that little 300 calories you eat as FAT bc youre starving your body..trust me, this is not the way to go..its very unhealthy and it will not benefit you in any way...you should be eating 1200 calories at least if you're working out daily..that is a healthy amount..stick to fruits and vegies and lean meat..but if you continue to eat 300 calories a day you are depriving your body of the necessary vitamins/fat/protein it needs daily...you will eventually find this out the hard way...if you eat a BALANCED diet..and wish to loose weight..work out, it will come off slowly but you will be HEALTHY and the weight will stay off unlike this 300 calorie a day diet that will store all this as fat

Good point, babies do live on more than 400 calories a day.
I study science often and quit the 300 calorie thing while you're ahead otherwise your metabolism will never work as well as it did.
Certain foods will fuel fat burning stimulants in your body = weight loss.

As a moderator, I just had to report those posts referring to a 300-calories diet. That is extremely unhealthy and could lead others to pursue on a diet like that - that is very, very dangerous!

she didn't ask if it was healthy. i'm sure she knows it's not the super healthiest way to go about things. she asked if she could survive on 300 calories a day for too long, and the honest answer is: yes BUT YOU SHOULDN'T, OF COURSE and so on and so forth.

You shouldn't even think about doing it in the first place.
If there is a possibility of making someone else try it, specially.

The bottom line is that it is just plain STUPID to try to do that to your body. If you are going to subjct yourself to that kind of torture, then you need to have yourself committed or sign yourself up for week long therapy because you need it.

It just isnt healthy or smart, so advertising it on the internet shouldnt be done. All that is going to do is get these impressionable young girls thinking that "oh maybe if I only do this, I will get that imatiated, skin and bones look I was going for" and everyone will think I am beautiful. Yeah right!!!

Me too am kinda like some of the people in this forum. just over 15 months ago my dad started drinking and becoming violent towards me. so i started slipping. i used to get up in the morn have breakfast then dinner at school go home and have a average sized tea.
when he started drinkng he neva got up for me to go to school, this really upset me as i was once close to my dad as he was the only one that brought me up :'(
after he started to drink i got up in the morning got ready and left for school. i neva had dinner at school and i wud go str8 in from school while he was at work get something quickly like a pot noodle and go straight back out. so i wud just have a pit noodle during the day.
i would come in at night and go straight to my room and do the same the next day.
after a few days of this i started to get up in the morning with no energy to move. but i did after about 20 mins.
then i got drunk one night and everything changed. i went to live with my aunty and uncle then jus started eating a normal sized tea and i also started to eat lunch again. then i moved from there as i found out they didnt want me there and went to my mates. i stopped eating again and was just eating a sandwich a day, sometimes just one piece of bread a day.
i now live with someone from school and she is terribly worried over me. they go to workj in the morning and i will have some crisps which is 82 calories then they will make me pasta or sandwich i will have...say, a few bites of the sandwich or pasta she always tried to persuade me to eat some more. it makes me really upset that i dont eat properly. ive have tried to eat more but then i just feel like i am goin to vomit terribly. so i just choose not to. i often blackout easily and have anger problems. i left school in july and see lots of staff frequently they say i am loosing too much weight but im actually not trying to. i would like to eat properly again i just cant seem to do it. i dont know what to do about this or who to go and talk to. before i stopped eating properly 15 months ago i weighed 9 stone 12 pounds (this is when i was 15) around 5 weeks ago i weighed 9 stone 8 pounds today i had a hospital appointment they weighed me and now im 8 stone 6 rapidly i am losing this weight and it is starting to scare me.
I would really appreciate some help with this, i feel like i really cant cope no more.

300 calories and what it can lead to.
I agree with what you all are saying. Starving yourself is a cruel thing to do to your body. I feel selfish that an amount of people in our world today are purposely hurting their bodies, while others in africa have no choice or aid to change their fate.

But I, know what it feels like to be a victim of Anorexia, or atleast I was on the verge of it this past year. I ate only up to 500 calories a day. I dropped weight immensely from 110 to 90 pounds, but then during the school year it went from 90 pounds to 75, due to stress. This may all seem absurd to you, but the reason for all of this I believe was not only stress, but insecurity of how I felt in my own body and what others saw. I was in a state where I wasn't in the right frame of thought, and it was I assume at the time I thought it was the only thing I could control in my life. I was unhappy before that, I always compared myself to others, but during the months of not eating, I was a thousand times more miserable then how I was when being a stable weight. I was starving myself to the point where I felt dizzy, weak, and all I could do was sleep it all off. My family were haunted by my changed appearance, and so was my doctor, he helped put a stop to my insecurity, by opening my eyes to the fact, of how sick I had become, that I was on the verge of anorexia. But now, however, 9 months later I have gone back to 105 - 110 and I am eating healthy and regularly.
Having this point of vew has changed me because I can't believe how blind I was. The reasons behind what I put myself through, I cannot fully explain, but I would just remind you all to not judge me.

I do believe many today are being influenced to become an image which is so deadly to their and health and bodies that would be defined as anorexia. The media, and expectations and judgements of which people make today, are the blame.

We all feel pressure from society in general and from our groups, our "equals" in particular, in a huge amount of subjects. Notice that even "simple" things such as the music we listen to, the movies we watch, the places we go to are part of our life in a group.
We make choices, we are always making choices, based on those life experiences, and, sometimes, those choices are not the best, though they seem to be.
It's not only because we can't see things straight; other variables must be considered: pressure from parents, relatives and friends, stereotypes, lack of self-confidence, fear, stress, etc. We you find one thing that you can control - totally, I mean - you will grab it. And you'll feel better, accomplished.

Others may not understand your issues, but that's because they dono't know how to deal with it, normally.
If you notice that you have a problem, then fight for yourself - inform other people, get healthier, seek for professional help.

that sounds dangerous --- and probably is going to just exchange your weight issues with something just as bad if not worse. I do go 800 calories minium, and mostly protein(for muscles and enzymes) and carbohydrates(just so you have enough energy, rest of the energy comes from the fat). Then workout. And take enough vitamins and supplements.

remember that even fat people can starv to death, since there are no needed proteins and stuff in the stored fat.

Hii
i read your story and I completely understand how you are feeling. I have been anorexiic for two years and am hopelessly trying to fight it. I don't think you want to die but indefinately you will due to this unusual eating habbit. You need to bring up your confidence in yourself aswell as with food. Only eating 300 calories will simply leave you with a distorted body image. If you want to lose weight and therefore be happier eith yourself then that is good but the way your doing it isnt going to help you atall.

If you try and eat like a cereal bar in the morning and some toast and then pasta that will be healthy and it is a great place to start. You need to build up your confidence aswell...you say you got to the gym twice a week, do you have any friends who can go with you. Also treat yourself to a day of relaxation like a spa and take your friend along if you can keep your mind pre occupuied you might find it easier to eat. I know when I'm alone I can't be around food but if you have the support of a friend then its generally alot easier.

I thin kthe other comments that have been made are alsso extremely relevant. 300 calories wo't keep you going for long and it just isnt pratical. If a friennd came to you and said they were only going to eat 300 calories a day you would be worried. 300 calories is not enough to maintain a healthy life style and though you might not feel confident at the moment I know that even if you lose 2 stone you will still think that in just 15pounds lost you will look great and it will continue like that until you pass out and maybe even die.

I'm telling you this because I believe that you have a chance to get put of this cycle before things get really serious. The fact that you are aware of what you are doing and have asked for advice shows that you know it's not a good idea and you want some help.

Talk to a close friend or some1 you trust and they will be there not to judge you but to help you.

Please don't get in2 the situation I put myself in. I am soon leaving for rhodes farm where I will be treated but the pain it causes those you love will haunt you for the rest of your life.

Please do this for yourself and for your friends and family

Love form natalie ..x

if you need any more advice you can just email me .x.
