I have been very sick for a couple years
now. Nausea every day, especially in the
morning (i'm not pregnant), vomiting
frequently, etc. I have been to my
primary and gyno complaining about it for
years now and they just kept telling me it
was stress and that I should go to
therapy. Finally I got a new primary and
explained what was going on so he sent me
to a gi. I had an ultrasound and
endoscopy and was diagnosed with h.
Pylori bacteria and an ulcer. They gave
me antibiotics but after taking one dose I
ended up in the emergency room, turns out
i'm allergic to alot of antibiotics.
Today they started me on some other combo
of antibiotics, prevacid, and pepto...So
far so good, no allergic reaction yet.
My two main concerns are: while looking up
information on the internet I came across
alot of studies that link h. Pylori to
stomach cancer. I am so paranoid about
cancer to begin with and now I read this.
I asked my gi and he said that yes, it's
related to stomach cancer. What worries
me is that I have been feeling this way
for years and the gi said I have probably
had this bacteria for years. But I guess
why i'm writing is b/c I have been having
a sharp constant pain in my side for days
now. It started all of the sudden and
hasn't weakened since. Has anyone had
this? It's a constant pain in my uppper
right abdomen, under my rib cage? Maybe
it's an ovarian cyst and not related.

Helicobacter pylori isn't a direct cause
for cancer. What it does is that it
causes ulcer an inflammation of the
stomach mucosa and these changes,
persisting, may eventually lead to cancer.
Any abnormal change in the body which
lasts for a long time is a risk for
cancer.
If you are so worried that you may have
developed cancer ask your doctor to do an
endoscopy and biopsy of your stomach
lesions. Biopsy is the only certain way
to tell if there is any cancer or not.
As for your pain, it could be many things
or nothing. Can't you be a little more
precise? On which side is it? Is it
left? Is it in the middle of the side or
more to the front? How severe is the
pain? Does it go anywhere?...Can you feel
it spreading or not? Is it limited to a
point or is it larger? Can you feel
exactly where it is or is it vague? Did
you need to take an analgesic for the
pain?

I Was Just Told That I Have Helicobacter Pylori Posted: 09-13-05 15:28pm
Hi
yesterday I was told that I have h/pylori,
and I also am worried, I get a really bad
pain right below my rib cage in the
middle. Sometimes it just throbs. I also
have muscle spasm in my throat, to where
if I dont lay still I can barely breathe
and I cant move very well. I have also
had trouble for years with my throat and
also choking on food, that is why I had
the scope done to see if my throat needed
dilation and they said that it didnt but
found these lumps in my stomache so they
took samples and said I have this
h/pylori. There are so many website
which all say differant things. I am
highly allergic to amoxicillian, so they
gave me tetracycline, biaxin, and acipex ,
I have to open the cap. Of tet. Cause I
cant swallow anything that big. And I get
really sick to my stomache after taking
them and really tired. If you have any
info for me please let me know.

that could be your ulcer, or your liver
(and other things i'm not an expert).
I don't think you have to worry too much
about stomach cancer, since most people
have h. Pylori in their gi tract (55%+ of
people over 55) but few get stomach cancer
(compared to colon, breast, prostate).

babycat, i'm not suprised you feel
nauseous and tired after taking those
drugs. Tetracycline makes me puke.
Ginger almost always takes away nausea for
me. It doesn't matter if you eat the
actual fresh root or take a handful or two
of ginger pills. Unfortunately, that'll
give you heartburn.
I had a duodenal ulcer just before anyone
treated ulcers w/antibiotics, I took
ranitidine and sucralfate, which didn't
get rid of the h. Pylori but got rid of
the ulcer..
