Q: Never Have Slept.

This morning I went down into my 17-year-old brother's room and accidently tripped (we have to walk through his room to get to other parts of the house). I thought i'd wake him, but he didn't stir at all. I told my mom and she said, "watch this." she went in, turned on his light and yelled up the stairs, "nothing wakes him up."
i am the exact opposite (and three years older). If someone across the house has a tv on it brings me fully awake even if i'm exaughsted. I've always been like this and it gets to be very troubling. How is it my own brother sleeps so soundly, and I get less than five hours of sleep on average a night? I'm talking without caffine, with or without exercise, all that. Should I see a physician? I always was told i'm just a light sleeper, but my genetics don't seem to back this up. Any advice?

I am the same way. I need complete silence, a perfect temperature and preferrably dark to sleep. What I do is I sleep with a fan on, all year round. It may be hard for you to fall asleep the first couple of times you use it, but after that it should help. The steady rythm helps me sleep more soundly, and it muffles outside noises. They also make those alarm clocks and little devices that have sounds, like heartbeat, streams, ocean, etc. It is the only think I have found to help me so far. It is a pain in the butt though. Sorry I couldn't help you more.
