Q: Orgasm Danger After Tonsillectomy

I had a tonsillectomy recently and was told post-op not to strain myself, not to do any vigorous excercise--anything that would significantly increase my blood pressure, and/or pit strain on my neck so that the scab on the tonsil bed would open up prematurely. I had post-op bleeding a week after surgery. The night it happened, I was up late, had brushed my teeth and tongue (after which I spit up a tiny little bit of blood but thought nothing of it), and I masturbated and had laid down to go to sleep, when I started to feel something dripping persistently like a flowing pot-nasal drip. When I spat it out, it was blood and after an hour of continual blood-spitting, I went into the er and had my left tonsil bed re-cauterized. My question is whether or not the masturbation/orgasm had anything to do with the bleeding. Since the incident I have abstained from having any orgasms, and it has been a long week, believe me. But its hard to imagine that everyone would stop playing with themselves for the full 3 week recovery period...Apparently, only 10% or tonsilectomies involve post-op bleeding, and when it happens its usually about a week after the procedure, like mine was. Coincidence or orgasm-caused? Thanks!

Of course not. There is absolutely no connection between your jerking off and a botched tonsilectomy. Spilling your nut wouldn't have caused any problems with your surgery. It was coincidence. Don't worry about it.

I recently met with a doctor who told me the same thing: no activity that's going to abnormally raise your blood pressure, theres an issue with blood clots and bleeding, or something. Although she only told me 2 weeks.

There is no correlation. Just don't strain yourself. When in doubt, don't do it; give it time to heal.
