Ok, if this is a dumb question then
sorry... But I was tested about 7 years
ago. I had slept with a few people with
no protection before that. Everything
came back clear. My question to you now
is can't hiv take years and years to
effect your system? Just because I was
tested 7 years ago, doesn't mean that I
could not have it now? I am wondering
what to do. I want to get retested, but
I hate it. I am showing no symptoms of
any kind and feel good. I just thought I
would ask for some input. Thanks

I think you have hiv and aids confused.
Hiv is the virus which causes aids. It
could take several months or even years to
get full blown aids, after you have been
diagnosed with hiv.
Antibodies for hiv (which is what is being
tested) take roughly 13 weeks to be made
by the body. As long as you had your hiv
test 13 weeks after the last time you were
exposed to unprotected sex you should be
fine. If you haven't had numerous
partners or unprotected sex since then,
there is no need to get retested.
