Q: Hight Pulse Rate While Running

I have been running for some time now and recently purchased a heart rate monitor. My pulse rate seems to be very high compared to others. Ability. It averages around 175-185bpm for a 6 mile run. After a minute of running my heart rate is up to 165-175bpm and towards the end of my run its pushing 195bpm. I'm far from an expert runner and can usually finnish 6 miles in 50 minutes. My resting heart rate seem fine 45-55bpm. Other than my high heart rate, I feel fine. I'm 32 yrs old 6'4 190 lbs, I don't smoke, eat healthy and the last time I had a phiscal (last year) everything was fine. Should I be concerned of my high pulse rate?

Hi mike,

i have been having the exact same experience while running or on the eliptical trainer. Within the first minute or so it shoots up to 180-190. My resting heart rate is 79. I am 34 and 120lbs and never had problems before. I went for my yearly physical yesterday and asked my doctor about this and she said that as long as I felt fine while running or exercising, didn't feel overly exhasusted, no pain and I wasn't struggling to breath (can talk while breathing) she said not to worry about it. As long as it returns to normal when I stop exercising. If it didn't return to normal I should be concerned and come back to see her. So I guess we're fine.
