Hi,

i have been having extreme pressure pain behind my right eye. I am living on anti inflammatory and pain killers. I have just finished a course of anti biotics, but still the pressure pain is there. An ear, nose & throat specialist metnioned something about rare sinus blockage, but did nothing. Eye dr said my eyes were fine. The pain is affecting my life and I have become extremely sensitive to light, which makes it worse. My eye when at it's worst pushes forward that you can see it. I am so scared of something serious that drs have not picked up, it's been a year now and getting wrose. Has anyone had similar symptoms or any suggestions how to help. Thank you

Could Be Graves Eye Disease
You should go to an opthomologist, not an optomotrist and insist on a cat scan. I had the same problem as you are describing and kept repeatedly being told it was eye strain. I finally consulted an opthomologist. Even though I couldn't tell, the opthomologist measured my eyes and found they were protruding a bit. He ordered a cat scan and it showed enlarged orbital muscles due to graves eye disease. Very often, but not always, graves eye disease is asociated with thyroid problems, so you might ask for a simple thyroid blood test as well. But the definitive diagnosis is made via cat scan. It might cost a bit but insist on it anyway.

pain in right eye
I have a pressure type pain in my right eye. I've had it for over 10 years off and on but is more pronounced this past 2 years. My optomotrist says the clear jelly like substance in the corner of the eye is a cyst. My sight is not effected, nor are there any swellings or redness. A little yellow discolouration in the corner. What particularly bothers me is that when I rub my eye, rarely now, it hurts like hell! Normal thyroid, but have some nerve damage; sciatic, sensory loss in arms, hands, fingers, neck. If anyone can advise it would be appreciated.

See an Ophthalmologist
I repeat: See an Ophthalmologist! Optometrists have no ability to diagnose eye disease other than irregularities of the lens. It's like asking a chiropractor to perform open heart surgery. And if you don't get satisfactory answers from one Ophthalmologist, go to another. I went to 3 of them and thank god I did, otherwise I would be blind today. The third Ophthalmologist knew exactly what to do. The first two basically said my disease was incurable and could do nothing. Good luck.
