Q: Lupus And Weight Gain, Are They Connected?

I have had lupus since I was 16 the doctors figure, but not actually diagnosed until I was around 18.

What I was wondering, is lupus and weight gain related? I have always been on the more slender to average side, and since going on all these drugs I have gained over 50lbs in less than a year. I have hypo-thyroidism, as well as a couple other problems. But I try to do yoga, I watch what I eat and the pounds are not going away :x . I have never been this heavy and it isnt good for my heart. I had to have open heart surgery in 2002, and have just been steadily increasing my weight ever since. Except this year, I have gained about 50 lbs, and I dont know how. Please help me. I dont know what to do about this. I still exercise on a regular basis. I dont know what to do. I am the only fat person in my family, and I hate the stares I get.
