Hi, i'm new and have a question about the lower back pain that i've been having for 3 weeks. I haven't been to the dr yet because I figure it's just a strain and i'm hoping that it will just get better, but so far it hasn't. I haven't fallen or done anything to it that I know of except picking my 3yr old up and lifting heavy objects and I was lifting weights at the gym.(not since my back started hurting. Anyways, it hurts all the time but hurts the most when i'm sitting down, I get sharp sheooting pains in my lower back. I still exercise, but only on my elliptical and it still hurts. I've notice that I get a tingley feeling in my right calf and foot.

Thank you for listening.

Low Back Pain
I have suffered with low back pain all of my life "literally". After years of physical therapy which did nothing for my pain, I finally met a pt who gave me invaluable advice. Ice the area the pain originates in 20 min on and 20 min off. The best ice-pack is a "bag"of frozen kernel corn, peas,or lima beans. Always keep two bags in the freezer. Take one bag out and whack it on the counter to loosten up all the veggies. Then, wrap it in a kitchen towel and put is on your back. If you cannot lie down, take a scarf or a belt and tie it around your waist. 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off. You will see how much better you feel after a short while. This also works on sciatic pain
