Herpe Ulsers In Throat?
Posted: 08-25-05 10:53am

Me and my girlfriend have been sexually active for about 2 months and change. She started giving me head early this summer and about 2 weeks later we started having sex, and around this time she started developing ulcers in the back of her throat and sometimes on the top of her mouth as well. She can feel when these ulcers are starting to come through a little pain, feeling like a sore throat before they actually appear. They stay for several days, around 5 normally and then will go away for a week or more and come back the following week. She has been to the doctors and they say it could be something to do with a deficiency in her immune system, a lack of some iron or something, which I have also read online. She seems to get a sick a lot, much more than I do or any other person I know anyways. She seems to be sick at least every month. I think it could be related to stress, (in school I hear she is pretty insane) or this immune system problem. The other day she went to the doctors to get tested for herpes, mono, and strep throat. The results have not come in yet, apparently they will know today (after about two days waiting).

Another symptom which may be a factor is that her vaginal area hurts, her friends tell her it may be a yeast infection, but she thinks its herpes or something, but has to my knowledge not found any ulcers or sores there. It is only now in her throat and sometimes her tongue. When they appeared this week they only lasted for about 2 days in her throat.

As for me, I have no idea if I have herpes. I have never had any symptoms of genital herpes and I have never been told to worry by a doctor. I'm 17, turning 18 this new years, white male and perfectly fit. When I was going through middle school I would have outbreaks of acne around my mouth, upper and lower lip and chin. But it was never really that bad, a few pimples here and there at most. At the moment im writing this I have one pimple on the outside of my mouth near the base of where my teeth would start, but it is not huge or painful, just like another pimple. Last week I had to similar ones on my upper lip that went away in 2 days. I also have a sore on the inside of my lip, but I feel like it is actually just a cut that can't really heal (its been 2 days) because of the direct contact with my canine tooth. I remember biting the area.

So mainly im worried about her. Does she have the symptoms of herpes? Numerous, painful throat ulcers, sometimes in very back of throat, tongue and roof of mouth. I have never had anything like that, so I couldn’t have passed it to her, and we are both the first person we have had sex with so it rules out that. Or could it be this immune problem, and completely unrelated. Thank you.

My friend has a white bump by her tonsils and is wondering if she has a sexually transmitted disease?

In reply to #1:
are you sure she or you have never had sex before, if you arn't lying, maybe she is, it does sound like herpes, but i'm not a doctor, but i've been looking up stuff like that, and it does sound like what I have heard, just wait for the test results and we can hope for the best.
