Q: Question About My Four Year Old Please Help

Hello,
my four year old daughter had a bowel movement the other night that was complete mucous with very little stool, the mucous was full of bright red blood. We gathered some of the mucous and took it and my child to the docter the next day ( which was today). The doctor looked at the mucous and said it had blood in it and then went on to explain that this happens when the intestine is irratated or inflamed. She then followed with the statement that this is called colitis and basically said change her diet almost ho hum like. Once we found out what colitis was via the internet we are very concerned. Is there a difference between colitis and ulcerative colitis, if so is colitis a general description they give intestinal irratation.
This was not her normal doctor, her normal doctor was out of the office and we have rescheduled to see him tommorrow but we are very worried and scared. She has no other symptoms other than the fact that her and her sister are getting over a fever that they had diarreha and a sore throat with.
Please shed some light on this for us, we are pretty much in the dark and worried. Thanks

What did you find out? My father suffered from cronic clotis all of his adult life and eventually died from its complcations. From what I know which is not much..... It is not something to be taken lightly. If a doctor was oh hum about it reagrding any of my children i'd seek a 2nd opinion if it continues.
