New to Site.... Cant Believe Im Having Em Again!!! Posted: 08-23-05 08:02am
Well... What a great forum!!!...
History... I remeber being 5yrs old and
mum had to call the doctor out cos I
couldnt breathe and heart was poundin!!!!
He came out in the middle of the night and
said... Its just her she is doing it
herself!!!
Since then ..When I was 21yrs old ...I was
sat in front of the fire and in my
chest... Flop..What the heck was
it...Palpitations..Missed beats...Fast
beats..Thumps in chest ,agrophobia and
panic attacks and then two yrs later it
all stops. Never went to the doctor as I
have a terrible fear of them.
Since then I have had the odd bouts of
palpitations and have learnt to ignore
them. Last week I said to my sister..
Its great you know my heart rate is fab
and I dont think about my heart
anymore...Few days after that my mum is
rushed into hospital and wham... They are
back... I cant eat...Sleep..Hardly work
and the all the fears of heart desease ect
ect(borin) are back... Taking my
pulse..Feeling my chest..It was beating
that hard the other day I could feel every
action my heart was doing the bump
bump....Bump bump....Horrid... Every one
in my family says it is anxiety over
mum, debts and stress I have had lately...
Can anyone help... How doi stop it!!! I
get them bad when I eat... Does anyone
else. Doc has listened to my heart when I
had them before and he said it sounds
lovely...Can this really be stress!

Hi You're Normal! Posted: 08-26-05 03:28am
Hi rachel
the heart bumps sound like they are a
response to the stress. What I think you
should do to make sure is ask your doc to
refer you to a specialist at hospital to
have your heart monitored for an 30/60
mins. This will tell you for sure if you
have a problem and they know everything
about the heart and beating.
Are you from notts in the uk? If you are
you know this is free so go for it, then
when your results come back you will
beable to move on. I think you will be
ok as you have seen the best and not just
some general practitioner (i call them
jack of all trades, master of none).
Let us know how you get on, but don't take
no fro an answer from your gp, if need be,
just go to a&e and they will do it
there and then!

Hi, thanks so much for your response.....
I know that is one thing I wont do cos
guess what......I have the most terrible
phobia of doctors andhospitals. I went to
the doctor once about the palps and he
listened and he said it was fine just fast
throught the panic of being in the
surgery!!!... But the thing is with me is
they come and go all the time ... I can
go months without and them wham!!!! Cant
cope again!....Its me isnt it!!!!

My son has same symptoms, he has to stay
away from caffeine, chocolate, cola,
asthma meds, no amphedimines, no speed of
any kind. And they also suggested beta
blockers to make the stress less, so
symptoms can subside. It is a real
condition, most commonly not a fatal
condition, it is worse with stress. Then
you get it and you get more stressed, so
never ending circle. You just have to
tell yourself youre ok, and try to calm
yourself. It is normal to stress when
you think something is wrong with your
heart. Normal, totally normal my son
was told his is, premature ventricular
contractions, or premature artial
contractions. His beats would go so fast
and then go back to normal, then it would
feel like his heart was stopping. He
misses beats and has long pauses along
with fast beats. They did all the test
he just has to stay away from any
stimulants, and try to stay stress
free--never did give him the beta
blockers. Hope this helps you
