Before I was given a spinal tap for epidural--the anesthesiologist shocked me twice. He said he needed to make sure he would find the right spot to inject me. I have asked other mothers about this for years and no one seems to know anything about this being done to anyone else. I am concerned what the purpose of this was and why no one else seems to know anything about it. I am also concerned what impact this may have had on my child. Can anyone tell me?

I mean he made my husband and mother leave the room. The nurse told me to hold on to her as tight as I needed to and he electrically shocked me a couple of times while I sat on the edge of the bed.

That doesn't sound right to me!!! I was in the delivery room with my aunt and also my friend (two different hospitals and two different anesthiologists) and I was aloud in the room while they had the epidural and also they didn't experience anything like that. Sorry i'm not much help but I have never heard of that!

I have never heard of that! I would have asked my doctor about it though!

When I had both of my kids everyone had to leave the room when I had my epidural but I was never shocked or anything like that.So I find that strange.

Ok that is odd, and I would talk to a doctor about that ( a different one), because I had an epideral and they did not shock me. That sounds very suspicious.
