Most of the time everything is normal and easy 2 cure!! Smile Just give the doctor a visit if you do have a worry

respect your body young ones!
What is up with all the 15 year olds commenting? A little advise, practice safe sex and know that your body is a special temple.....save it for someone special. At 15 you really dont understand and know your body to the fullest. Promise me, at 30 you'll laugh and say to yourself, "I didnt know what the heck I was doing back then!"
Be smart, don't waste away your teenage years! Enjoy college...at least you'll be a little older then to understand sex and relationships. (I'm talking out of experience)
All of you must see a gyno right away and get checked up, especially if you have concerns. Only they can give you real answers. It might not be anything to worry about, but at least you'll have peace of mind....and maybe get birth control at the same time.

hi , i would just like to write that all of the girls here that are too scared to go to the doctor may i juat say this -
it is always completely confidential!!
even if it not the doctors, there are confidential facilities available for under 21s and sexual health at places like BROOK - there are always very friendly and sympathetic people working there.
and aswell, it is not embarresing to be worried about this, it is actually quite important and its good practice.
i went to my doctors when i was 17 with a lump and she said it was just my cervix i felt. i told her i was embaresed because i saw it as wasting her time and she very seriously told me that i should go to the doctors if i am unsure about anything - its what there for!
and if you think about it im sure there are some incredibally funny things they get their time wasted for!
also i know some of you may not have close realtionships with your mums but i talked to mine when i was unsure about my lump, she was the one that suggested the doctor, she didnt even laugh at me afterwards she said she was proud that i could talk to her because it meant she knows she is being a good mother that i can confide in her.
please put your emotions aside as it may be something simple, but at least your mind will be at sound Smile good luck girls!xx

I went to my doctors the other day to find out about a lump in my vagina ... its your cervix. it is at the far end of your vagina, and is usually 3cm across, as it is blocking off your womb, and usually only has a small hole in it, which gets bigger with sexual intercourse and using tampons.
I hope that helped Very Happy

Hi all.
Ok 14 year olds. Don't worry. And if you do then please talk to someone. I was freaking out about a lump in my vagina and a mass type thing on the outside. I finally after a few days decided to tell my mum about it. She said she would take me to a doctor (there was a lady surgen at "The Surgery" where I live here in Uganda). She then asked if I had had sex before and I just told her the truth. She wasn't mad at all and she was happy to hear that I could trust her enough to talk to her about this stuff.
The lump inside was normal probably just my cervix and the mass outside was from when my hynen broke during intercourse. It can also happen with tampons.
dont worry baout anything but if you arent trying to hide somethign like having had sex from your parents then talk to your mum about it.
hope it helps.
xxxx

Lumps
Hello,

I'm 19 and I have recently found a lump on the inside to the left, it can be slighly painful, however is does not cause me much distress and although it is about the size of a small marble, I will have it checked out by a doctor soon enough when i feel less embarssed, but i just want to say that this site is brilliant and has enabled me to become rational about this and no longer scared as there are many women with this problem (as i have just found out) once again I would like to thank this site for putting me at ease with myself as i have become quite withdrawn as i could not speak to any one about this as i was very embarssed as it not the usual conversation starter, however i am not the only one and i do not feel so worried =] x

The Bartholin's glands (also called Bartholin glands or greater vestibular glands) are two glands located slightly below and to the left and right of the opening of the vagina. They secrete mucus to lubricate the vagina and are homologous to bulbourethral glands in males. However, while Bartholin's glands are located in the superficial perineal pouch in females, bulbourethral glands are located in the deep perineal pouch.

They secrete mucus to provide vaginal lubrication.[2][3] Bartholin's glands secrete relatively minute amounts (one or two drops) of fluid when a woman is sexually aroused.[4] The minute droplets of fluid were once believed to be important for lubricating the vagina, but research from Masters and Johnson demonstrated that vaginal lubrication comes from deeper within the vagina.[4] The fluid may slightly moisten the labial opening of the vagina, serving to make contact with this sensitive area more comfortable for the woman.[4]

Although unusual, it is possible for the Bartholin's glands to become irritated or infected, resulting in pain.[4] If the duct becomes obstructed, a Bartholin's cyst can develop, and a Bartholin's cyst in turn can become infected and form an abscess. Carcinoma of the gland is rare, but benign tumors and hyperplasia are even more rare.[5]

hiya everyone

im 17 years old and i found a lump in my vagina about a year ago. i was really worried about but then i went to see a dr and got myself checked out and even went to get an ultrasound to see if everything is normal. when i went they told me that everything was perfectly notmal and the lump i felt was just my cervix. it was large and hard right at the top so if thats what you can feel i wouldnt worry too much but none the less get it checked out just incase. the nurses that check you out are not at all judgemental so dont panic. just remember they have seen it all before.

Hey, i am 16 1/2 and i found a lump on the inside of my vagina near the opening it's a smal lump that is'nt painful what so ever. I can honestly say that i paniced. So, I came on my omputer and did some research. I found out that it was just my cervix. I am very relieved at this point, but i have a physical coming up August 13 and i will ask my doctor to check it and make sure. But overall, i think i'm okay. No worries for me.

Lately it's been hurting to wipe, and then i noticed a lump thats squishy and a little painful. I've only been with one man and sexualy active with him for over 5 years, so not concerned that i have an STD, but it is uncomfortable and obviously not normal. I looked on the web and it seems like it may be my urethra, just really really swollen... im due for a check up in a few weeks, but wondering if I should schedule it sooner, or if anyone has an idea what it could be. it's just above the opening of my vagina but on the inside of the lips...
