Hello.
Go back to the neurologist and tell them what is going on. How old is your daughter. Prehaps she is on too high a dose. Has she had her blood levels checked? Or is that a drug that does not require blood level testing. I am taking keppra and epilim, I used to have bad grand mal seizures and absence seizures. Now I just get the odd one.

But it may go against some beliefs you have and it may offend you in some ways. But it does work, and works well!

I am sorry that she is having so much trouble concentrating. I am surprised that she is taking trileptal for absence seizures though. Usually that is for partial seizures....

I would talk to the neuro and see if the dose can be adjusted or see what he thinks.

My dd had more trouble concentrating on zonegran at a higher dose, did not seem as much of an issue on a lower dose.

My 10 month old daughter is on trileptal and has been since she was 6 months old. From that time, her development has decreased. She is not sitting up yet, holding her own bottle...But she has not had a seizure for over one month which is the longest she has gone before. I am not sure what you should do or if I should be concerned too!

i'm sorry to hear this about any baby!
It sounds like trilptal is working to prevent seizures for her, but it has blocked normal development. By six months of age, or maybe seven she should be holding her own bottle, sitting up and playing with toys.
I'm a prime example of what seizure medications do to development.

I'm 37 years old, and I have the frame and body stature of a 13 year old child. If I was any shorter, i'd be considered a midget. I wear a size 5 wedding band and a size 6 shoe. I'm very dainty in many aspects.
As far as learning due to my seizure medications I had to compensate literally!
I would certainly be concerned. I'm also legally deaf because of seizure medications and I have implanted teeth.
Which means that the ingredients in the medication ate away at my teeth, enamel and all. I had to under go major surgery to implant false permanent teeth in the sockets.
I take tegratol, which is no better than what you're giving her.But its the only drug that works with my system.
I'm a graphic artist and I own a wonderful business, so my mental develpment wasn't harmed to much.
However, my preception of myself and the world around me was. I've had to go to counseling for many years because of this.
I hope this gives you some valuable insight to the results of seizure medication.
That's why I treat my condition with natural medication too.
