I have been on ortho tricyclen lo for about 4 months now and all of a sudden yesterday I started spotting but with a little bit of actual blood. What does that mean? I havent had sex all montha nd I shouldnt start my period for at least another week. Should I be worried?

Spotting is very common when taking bcp. Also refered to as breakthrough bleeding. But you could be pregnant..Maybe it's implantation bleeding. If you don't get a normal period you should take a preg test.

i am having this very same problem!! i am also on ortho-tricyclin lo and am spotting a week before im supposed to start my period. i have no reason to believe i am pregnant, i havent missed a pill, and havent had sex in over three weeks, and i used condoms anyway. ive been under a lot of stress the past three weeks, so i thought that would be the cause of my problem. my question is, is my birth control not as effective now that i am bleeding at the wrong time? does this mean that i am on the wrong hormone level or something?
