Q: Lump On Sternum

I have noticed and felt a golfball size lump at the base of my sternum. There is some discomfort associated with it and I have noticed that my appetite is not what it used to be. I'm scheduled to see a doctor in 2 weeks and while searching this site I have noticed othere individuals with the same symptoms. Does anyone have any idea what this might be?

lump under sternum

I went to the doctor's office yesterday and today had a scan. The doctor thought it was a fatty deposit AKA lypoma. The tech that scanned me today said that it was a solid mass not a cyst or fluid filled. The tech said she has never seen anything like it. The results are going to a radiologist and I will hear back in 4-5 days. Hope all is well with everyone's lumps and I will let you know if it is something worse.
