what's wrong with showing a little chivalry? It may seem silly, but opening doors and pulling out chairs for women really does tend to leave a positive impression. And positive impressions are what it's all about when first meeting a person.

I dont care how ungly, weird , stinky a person is even people like that find someone. So, I doubt you are any of those by the sounds of it, you are a typical nice guy, and it is always harder for nice guys.
Or, do you have that I really want a girlfriend written all over your face look? Because I know that turns off most women as well. Please change your mind mentoladey(sp?). If you think you're not going to find a girlfriend more then likely you want. Think about knowing you will find one. Stop trying so hard to find a girlfriend,and let the girls come to you. Learn some dating tips and how to talk to girls. It's not hard i'll help you.. If a girl is in a pub alone,and you're use to the place and you know she has never been there before. Then go up to her shake her hand and say hi my name is ______,you must be new around here, can I recomend a drink that is good,what is your favorite type of beer etc etc. Right there is a gate way in to a conversation with the girl.. You can even pick up a girls email and number is 2 mins. How about a girl sitting down next to a sit at a pub or other type of place. Walk up to her shake her hand hi my name is______ is this bar stool taken,(if she say no, you can have it). Then reply back and show her you have a sence of humor with. Oh are you sure, you wheren't using it as your foot stool where you? You're not going to charge me a rental fee are you?

Just try stuff like that and see where it gets you... It not bad to be nice.

Just be friendly and open, don't look all shy, don't try to hide, just make small talk and work on being her friend first. Being a female myself, I hate it when guys get overly nice (offering to buy everything for me tends to make me lose my temper), and I do like it if they just act like themselves around me. Just be a little funny, work on having a good amount of self-esteem, you know that stuff...

Remember, don't force yourself on her :) there's never any hurry...Oh and, yeah, move to the states. English accents are hot.
