Heya, im posting this because I just want to talk to someone. I have bulimia and I just dont know who to turn to, I realy need to speak to someone. Ive told a couple of friends about my problem, my mum knows, and I even told a teacher. However nobody seems to understand. Ive been binge eating and then being sick since february, and I really want to stop. Ive tried to do this loads of times but it never works, I always tell myself I wont do it again, but then the next day I find myself in the same situation. I know that im a healthy weight, but I feel that if I start to eat properly again then I will gain weight. And I dont want to be fat. Ive read that getting help from councellors can help, however im scared to go as I find it hard talking to people about the problem. I really want to stop as ive heard about lots of problems bulimia brings. Please help me, thanks xx

Hi
Hi how are you? I kind of know what you are going through. You are giht, no one seems to understand how a person with bulimia feels. I think you are very brave to have had the courage to tell your mum and a teacher....I could never have done that.

You say you are scared to talk to a counselor...That is totally understandable. In fact, your counselor might even know that and not exoect you to talk about it openly. What you might want to do is write it in a note and give it to a counselor. Or ask your friends to be there when you see her.

You say your mum knows- is she doing anything about it? Maybe you should tell her that you want help and you are scared of the problems bulimia brings...It certainly brings many. Especially other than verious health problems, you feel alone and helpless in the struggle to be thin and this pretty much takes away your life.

You will gain weight with bulimia...Once you start puking, your body absorbs the calories you give it faster before you puke and retains them. Bulimia is not the way to lose weight.

I think you are well on your way to recovery by just asking for help. Take good care of yourself and keep me posted on how you are doing.

If you ever want to talk, just pm me, I am there for you.

Hi there,
the help is there ,the first time you go it is scary ,but it does get eaiser,
like yourself I used to say ,i will never do it again and I never did, it is real ,and it is better to get the help sooner rather than later.
I think it is great you have told people , when people close to you can understand it better ,it can be a good support, the thing I found helpfull was to get them information on it so they can understand bulimia better(if you havent experinced it it is hard to understand)

take care and I would love to here how you are doing
lots of lovexxxx

Thanks
Hey thanks 4 getting back 2 me.. It makes me fell better knowing I arnt the only one doing this. Hmm my mum doesnt realy seem 2 understand, she thinks its something that can be stopped easily and then that is just it. And im scared to talk to her about it because I dont want to worry her, and I find it really hard to admit. Does bulimia realy make u gain weight? I wish id known earlier.. Thing is, I dont want to lose weight anymore but I think eating will make me fat.
Whenever I try to stop I never seem to eat much at all because I know that ill gain weight if I do, or end up eating more and then being sick. But im really worried becasue the other day when I was sick I noticed some blood there.. And I dont know what it means but im really worried and just dont know what to do..
Have u been to c councellors? Nd if u did do, did it make things any better? Because I dont see how people can understand if they havnt been through this themselves.. I think if I do go then I will ask my friend to come with me.. She was there when I told my teacher and it made things so much easier.
Thanks 4 replying.. I just need some one who I can talk to.. Xxxxx

Counseling Is Good
Postmcc is right... Counseling can be helpful. It is nice to have a friend to talk to because of a close relationship but it can also be helpful to seek the help of an experienced counselor. There are psychologists and even psychiatrists who specialize in eating disorders - "recovered" people and there are also groups. I see that you're from the uk and i'm across the world from you but its nice to know there are other people in the same boat as you, and seeking a way to get and eventually keep their head above water.

If you feel your mother does not understand, please go to your general care doctor and seek to find assistance from he/she. Also, looking on line for support groups in your area might help.

It's taken me a long time but i've finally found what works for me, not that I don't still struggle... I saw a counselor for a while and when I was better I started to see a psychiatrist who has worked with me on a regimen of medications that work for me and my problems. One in particular has helped regulate whatever chemicals were creating the instability in my head and the need to b/p like I was.

Well I know you'll find the help :) tt

Bully
I also told my nearest round of people but it is easyer for them to ignore that fact but it is better if u are courage enough to tell them than to keep it for yourself couse it can kill u.I have this problem about 2 years and don not know how to stop it it is to hard I even made 1year pause of my studies...
